OT: WHAT IF?

Every season I always have a thought. What if I could bring back any Reds player's season and put him on this current team who would I bring back? Often I try to pick a position that would fill a role desperately needed. I was wondering who you all would want to have and what season? For example I would take '95 Barry Larkin to play SS and leadoff. Or possibly a '99 Scott Sullivan or Danny Graves that would benefit out pen.

Pete Rose - 1973 - won the batting title with a .338 average. How much better would our offense be if we could get 230 hits out of the lead-off spot? As far as position, I guess you'd pencil him in at 2B and move Phillips to short.

I'm only going by what I have seen, and I'm too young to have seen the best reds teams. But the single best offensive season I've seen by a Reds player was Kevin Mitchell in 1994. I just remember his home runs hit so damn hard that they would bounce off the facade below the green seats and rocket back toward the infield.

I can't imagine the numbers Mitchell from 1994 would put up in GABP. I could see a:

.350 average, .450 OBP, .720 sluggling line as a real possibility though. No joke.

He put up a .680 slugging pct. in 94 at Riverfront. With a .420 OBP for a 1.110 OPS.

I would put the 1969 Pete Rose in LF with his .428 OBP (in a pitcher's era) batting leadoff. Rose wanted to win so bad, he would do anything.
At pitcher probably 1978 Tom Seaver.
