I had heard about the funnel-cake like GABP concessions before, mainly from Mo Egger, and was going to get some at the ballpark tonight. I googled them to find out how much they cost. Couldn't find that, but what I could find is a blog entry from Mo posted on 6/16/10 (9 days ago), saying that there was major news about them. I couldn't find what the news actually was. Did they get rid of them?? Thanks for the help!

Funnel Fries at the GAB might be one of the reasons that the Reds are the only team that has hip replacement surgery commercials during the games.

Cincinnati concessions are downright healthy compared to Minnesota. You can't even imagine some of the things they serve at Target Field. It's like the State Fair on steroids.

They're having a funnel fry eating contest at the ballpark later tonight. It was posted in Fay's blog earlier today....

Oh. That's the big news. Duh. I'd seen something about that, but didn't realize it was the big news. Was afraid they stopped selling them. Thanks!

It's not big news as far as I'm concerned but since it's Mo's game, I guess it would be big news to him, LOL

Its big news, in the sense that Mo has been pimping funnel fries all season, or just about all season. He's a little over the top w/ his love of funnel fries, but I haven't tried them yet, so perhaps he's justified. I know the Cowboy and Thom were raving about them one evening a couple weeks back when they tried them for the first time, and Mo had on some foodie from Cincinnati magazine who agreed in Mo's opinion that funnel fries are a "must have" food at the ball park.

I think I heard they run $4.50. Don't quote me on that though. I definently plan to get them next time I'm at the ball park.

The food blog Wine Me Dine Me wrote up about this at the beginning of the month at

http://winemedinemecincinnati.com/2010/06/an-open-letter-to-mo-egger/

And excerpt:

How did I miss out on these last season? I attended enough games, but since we generally sit in the 400s, we weren’t near a vendor. They’re darn tasty. If they’re hot, they’re crispy on the outside and warm inside. Even once they’ve cooled a bit, they’re good. They’re manageable in size, and could easily be split by two (or hoarded by one. I wouldn’t judge.). They’re covered in powdered sugar, so avoid wearing black while eating them, lest you want to look like you’ve been in Lucille Ball’s flour fight (or perhaps you need to go to rehab). They can’t possibly be good for you (fried dough, folks), but they are delicious.

I the funnel fries a few weekends ago based, mainly, on Mo Egger pimping them nonstop on his twitter account.

Delicious, but I could feel my heart screaming in agony with each bite.

That's kinda my philosophy about food. If I can't feel my arteries clogging while eating it, it's probably not very good.

Mo should be getting kick-backs from the funnel fry concession at GABP.

He has single-handedly dragged them into our consciousness.

I haven't tried them yet (I tend more toward suds and dogs at Reds games) but if they are like funnel cakes, then they are a guilty pleasure.

Mo's the man...and my former boss...and a friend of mine.

He doesn't take himself seriously at all, and doesn't put on an act. It seems to work for him.

LOL, I wish. It was actually my first time having funnel fries last night, and I was wowed by their awesomeness.
