The only other time we've had that lineup we won the game 10-3 (Friday against Cleveland).

Good to know! This is my favorite lineup we can roll out, maybe subbing Hernandez for Hanigan, but that's not an option right now.

The Phillies are missing Placido Polanco, their #2 hitter. So, we're even.

Current Half Inning (last play on top)

Victorino singled to center.
Rollins flied out to deep center.

Pitches for Cueto: 16-11 (for strikes).

I'd rather him struck out than make a weak first pitch out like he just did. And on the heels of Phillips making the guy work for seven or eight pitches.

Im trying to point out that his struggles go even farther than just not hitting. There is more than just a slump right now. He's looking completely different at the plate than he should even if he was slumping.

What are the odds that the REDS would give Baker a different .300 OBP guy three years in a row that he could fall in love with and bat at the top of the order, virtually ensuring Joey Votto's chances of never winning an RBI-Title?

We had our winning ways when top two hitters were getting on-base.

Somehow, Dusty doesn't associate "getting on base" with scoring runs and winning ballgames.

RedsFanInBama
06-28-2010, 07:32 PM
Strasburg gave up two first-inning hits (Melky Cabrera and McCann) and a hard-hit ball to Chipper Jones for an out. Cabrera, who doubled, was thrown out at home trying to score on McCann's single. Atlanta putting some good swings on the ball against him.

Would love to replace Cabrera with him.

This game is going to be very tough to win by both clubs.

I think there's a tremendous amount of fight in both of these teams.

It's one of those games where it will take the "Stars" to win the game. Average players (like Cabrera) and Victorino won't get it done.

Due Up:

C. Utley (.275, 0-for-1),
R. Howard (.292, 0-for-1),

There's absolutely nothing aggressive about playing station-to-station, wait for the big inning baseball. Nothing.

true, but id like him to get his feet wet again, before going in a tight situation

Kingspoint

But, then again, this is a no-pressure situation and that might be good for Bray's first time pitching since August of 2008.

So, I'm with you there.

That would probably be ideal, but with him likely being used pretty cautiously at first, I'd hold off yet.

He might. Baker likes to let his pitchers go to 112-114 pitches in situations like this. That's one more batter or two if the first guy swings early.

Strasburg gives up sac fly and RBI single and is yanked. 2-0 Braves. The rookie going to get another loss despite a solid performance.

I see where your going. Its pretty much different opinions with everyone. You can look at it either way really. He needs work with some room for error, or, you might need him tomorrow, and he will fall apart being used two days in a row.

I agree. Best overall game played top to bottom against a quality team all year.

It seems to me that the coaches and Ramon have really made a point lately to have little "chats" at the mound with Cueto more and more lately when there is any hint of trouble just to make sure he keeps his focus 100%. Has anyone else noticed this?

Even though Bray gave up the HR, didnt think he threw all that bad, was around the plate with a little zip (To me it looks like he is throwing harder than the gun indicates due to his motion).

Anyway, lets enjoy this. Sure is fun. Great forum. Die hard Reds fan from Indpls but just found the forum.
