There are many that are upset that the Reds are not having a good showing in the All Star balloting. Personally I don't care if any Reds play. I mean we know Rolen deserves to be there, but wouldn't it be better for him to take those days and rest his aging body? Given the game has become a popularity contest, let the Reds sit at home, avoid any chance of injury and come out ready to go after the all star break.

I want to see Gomes in the Home run derby, but that is about it.

No, that thing screws with hitters, just look at how many come away from that with horrible swings in the second half.

Rolen and Rhodes could probably both use a break. Shame Votto isn't going to make it, that would be our best rep with the least downside (r&r wise).

Gomes swings like he's in the homerun derby in every at-bat. I think he may be an exception.

So does Josh Hamilton and look how it screwed him up that season, why risk it, nothing gained by being in it.

Josh Hamilton is much more of an all around hitter than Gomes. I don't see a risk in putting a guy in the homerun derby that swings at sliders about 10 feet outside and in the dirt like he wants to pull it to the bleachers in left.
