I agree, its just kinda annoying to see them giving up so much on the left side when there is a GB pitcher on the mound.

I'm not complaining about the lineup, but why can't Janish ever start at third for Rolen. He seems like the more logical choice to me.

The range factor of a couple of snails.

With an OPS of .471 over his last 28 days, Cairo is a player after Baker's own heart. Combine that with his stellar range on Defense, and Mike Leake's got his work cut out for him.

Don't blink, or you'll miss the moment he actually contributes towards a victory.

I'm going out on a limb here and saying that Mike Leake hits for more total bases than Cairo does and that Leake also has more groundouts defensively than Cairo does, while watching fewer balls go past his left and right for hits.

Kingspoint

With Cabrera and Cairo mixed in there nicely, it's going to take Homeruns to score tonight as it will be difficult to have 3+ hit innings tonight (until the pinch-hitters come to the rescue).

Cairo has been a little bit of a butcher at 3rd this year. He only has 1 error but it seems like he has misplayed more than 1 ball for sure.

Disagree, this is a game we should and need to win, put your best 9 out there. Shoot give the guys a day off tomorrow against Halladay since we have about a 2% chance of winning anyway.

I am gonna quit playing nice to Dusty here soon, the guy just enjoys making fans angry I am beginning to think. It's like a "haha, I am the manager and I can fill out any card I want." Seriously, Rolen better have a sore back or something.

When you're a pitcher and you're given a left side defense of Cairo, Cabrera and Gomes and you're facing a lot of left-handers, you're going to try everything you can try in order to get them to hit it to the side where Bruce, Phillips and Votto are at. When you combine that with an umpire who won't call a strike, it's a recipe for disaster as you try to get too cute with your pitches.

Dusty is truly an idiot. I mean I hate to say that, even though it's a popular notion. There better have been a reason for that, but I don't know what the heck the reason could have been. Yes Leake is a good hitting pitcher. But you've got the opposing pitcher on the ropes a little, and you've got your leading home run hitter in the on deck circle. As was mentioned, it isn't as if you have to pinch hit Rolen and then he's done for the game. Pinch hit him, then put him in for Cairo at third.

But no, Dusty leaves the starting pitcher in who's given up 6 runs, with a reliever warmed up, making you think Leake is staying in. After Leake flies out, Herrera comes in to pitch the 7th anyway.

Well Dusty ain't the only one that thinks that. We could really use a good pinch hitting option to boost our bench a bit. We need to find a better 5th outfielder and pinch hitter than Nix...him at the plate reminds me of when we JimBo loved Russell Branyan for his power to hit the long ball off the bench...problem was he couldn't hit otherwise, same with Nix.
