From Fay Blog: http://cincinnati.com/blogs/reds/

Left-hander Matt Maloney is here.

“I’m planning on pitching,” he said. “They are going to let know closer to game time.”

Aaron Harang is not sure if he can start or not.

“I haven’t talk to them yet,” Harang said.

Mets Lineup:

Bruce batting in front of Gomes tonight, likely because Jonny is 0-8 with something like 6ks against Johan.

Gomes career against Santana:

8 at-bats, 6 K's, 1 walk, no hits.

Votto:
10 ab's, 2 K's, 3 hits, 1 walk

Shoulda called up GMJ. He's 5 for 17 against Santana with 2 HR's. :D

Phillips:
4-15, 1 double, 1 triple, 2 walks, 3 k's

Sounds like a good reason to give Gomes a day off and play Heisey.

A pitcher needs to bring his "A" game to get through that REDS' lineup.

Even with Corky Miller and Cabrera, that's got to be the best lineup in baseball right now.

I don't have a problem with the bunt. I think he did it to take the pressure of Joey and maybe give him any easy fly-out RBI. (obviously that didn't work)

texasdave
07-06-2010, 07:20 PM
Taking off the pressure worked out well. If we are going to win this division Joey needs to hit under pressure.

Exactly. Sometimes the pitcher decides. But, you can do things like step out of the batter's box a few times...small delays like that. Did Phillips do any of that? I don't have the visual.

Reds

Gomes has like 60 RBI's guys...

It's been working for us. Gomes is definitely struggling right now. A guy like him, you take the bad with the good. It was like Jay Buhner for the Mariners. Not a lot of hits. A lot of Strikeouts. But, a lot of RBI's and key hits when it mattered.

Nice, short inning for Maloney.

One AB too late, of course.

Is Maloney going to bat? He's at 91 pitches and the top of the order is coming up for the Mets.

No reason Matt should be pitching to Bay, walk him or use the pen imo.

RedsFanInBama
07-06-2010, 08:53 PM
That was not smart. Leaving him in to face Davis is fine. Lefty-lefty. But leaving him in against Bay? Just stupid. Should have gone to the pen.

texasdave
07-06-2010, 08:53 PM
Why get Ondrusek ready if you aren't gonna use him? You get Ondrusek ready to face the righties and leave Maloney in.

Oh, he'll use him. Next inning when the game is already over.

texasdave

texasdave

It's a hot night. Maloney is over 100 pitches. Santana isn't giving up anything. Ondrusek is warmed up and ready. Okay let Maloney face two righties. LOLOL.

texasdave

Yep and one was on Matt.
