Bronson can finish this thing.

redsfan_12

Are we better now because Dusty is managing better, or because of the team WJ has put around him?

Probably a little of both.

Id say a little of both too. I hate to say it, but Dusty is getting better. Still not the best he can do IMO

texasdave

If Bronson has an easy 8th does he come out for the 9th too?

Coco time. I think.

Nix up to PH for Bronson.

TheBigLebowski
07-07-2010, 10:20 PM
Tough call....let Bronson finish or go to the pen?

I let him try to finish and pull him at the first sign of trouble. But Dusty is the one being paid to make these decisions.

I wouldn't criticize him either way.

Kingspoint
07-07-2010, 10:20 PM
I think Corky Miller is still trying to run to first as you're reading this.

BigPoppa

TheBigLebowski
07-07-2010, 10:21 PM
I'd leave Bronson in.

I would too, but we have a multi-million dollar arm in the pen who is paid to get 3 outs in just such a situation.

I couldn't really criticize either decision and obviously yield benefit of the doubt...maybe Bronson told him he was gassed.

Don't make it a Dusty thing. Every manager in the game is sending his closer out there if the starter is done. I"m not saying it's right or wrong, but it is what it is.

Kingspoint
07-07-2010, 10:25 PM
I'm pretty optimistic when it comes to the REDS, but I can't see a 1-2-3 inning here.

I'm hoping for a 3-2 REDS win.

The All-Star Arthur Rhodes should be getting the opportunity for the Save here.

TheBigLebowski

Wood gets Halladay and Maloney gets Hamel. Good luck, rookies.

All the more reason why we need to nail this one down. Maloney can take Cole Hamels, who has not been dominant by any means this year. Halladay v Wood is almost a certain defeat.

I hate playing by the book every time. Nothing wrong with doing some different every once in awhile if the situation calls for it. 4 lefties and 1 righty next call for your left handed specialist.

But it's a "save" situation and Dusty has to get "his guy" a save. Kinda like Manual had to have "his guy" on the All Star team.

It's stupid.

Bronson goes 8 innings 1 run....Great game in the middle of a tough road trip...

Chris steps it up tonight with a bomb and the defensive play of the game taking a double away. Does Bruce make this play as I feel this is the play that won the game.

Heisy....Stubbs....Bruce...

Best defensive outfield in the majors.

I think having Heisy and Stuvvs out there is like having a two upper tier defensive centerfielders and they cover a ton of ground...

I'm not so sure Bruce catches that ball Heisey got to. I think Heisey is WAAAAAYYY underrated by the Reds fans and Reds management. I really think they're missing the boat on him.

As for Arroyo. I wish we weren't small market because I'd lock him up to another contract. The dude just saves our bullpen MOST of the time (not all of the time), and has that rubber arm. And strangely, he seems to be getting better with age. He seems more focused than he used to be. But then again, when you have a good defense and good offense around you, it's probably alot more fun.

Yes. 2011 will be the outfield of Heisey, Stubbs and Bruce, w/ Gomes maybe as a 4th Outfielder off the bench.

I love Heisey in his current role. I feel like we've got one of the best 4th OF's in the league right now. While Stubbs has the tools in the field as far as speed/range/etc, Heisey is not too far behind and he seems to be more polished. He makes those running plays. He doesn't come up "just short," he goes all the way. Chris is making Jonny look extremely expendable.

Can't say anything else about Bronson that hasn't already been said. He is the rock that this staff was built around. He'll have a blow-up or two every few months but otherwise you can absolutely count on him. Loved watching his performance tonight.

More AB's for Heisey, whoever has to sit.

And, more 7th inning and on defensive replacement for anyone other than Stubbs and Bruce.

Hey I'm with ya, I've been screaming more time for Heisey for a month and a half now. Call me crazy but I think he is a much more pure hitter than Stubbs. He don't have his speed but I believe that a platoon is in order at least! Competition will always shake out a winner just look what happened to Gomes over Nix. Gomes took the bull by the horns and performed. I'd like to see what happens with Stubbs and Heisey dueling it out, It would only reap great rewards for the Redlegs.

I sense a 2nd half change. Heisey gets majority of starts and Gomes becomes the 4th guy.
