View Full Version : Rocks going for the sweep vs. Cards

It's not reasonable to think that Carpenter will lose today. But after the last 2 games who the hell knows?

The Cards are the most gutless team in the NL. Dominated by a maniac manager. Pujols has been a clutch joke since April....But Holliday is raking. How many HR's will he hit today?

Tex: this is YOUR game! I ain't gonna make it past 3 innings! But I have it on good info that Carpenter will not tolerate any slick balls! I'm pretty sure he will drill about 3 Reds in this game. He is on the spot and wants badly to stop the Cardinal bleeding.

It will be nice knowing that going into tonight game the Reds could have no less than a 3 game lead.

Go Rockies.

The gutless, free swinging Cards have NO chance vs. a team that hits singles. Every Card goes for the HR on every single pitch. 3.5 ahead is a no brainer here.

I would like that. Marty and Cowboy get so busy talking about things other than baseball that a couple of times a game the action is secondary. That seems criminal on radio where the broadcasters are the fans eyes.

Not more meaningless than when I was reading our record against the Mets all time is like 140-120, like that was going to make a difference in last nights game! :p:

Is the 76-50 our record since we picked up Scotty? or what that just the most convenient number to make us look good (after we lost 7 in a row :D ) ?

I understand this is pretty meaningless, but going back to last year the Reds are 76-50.

I wouldn't really call it meaningless. Meaningless in the sense that none of that has gotten them into the postseason yet. And 126 games isn't even one full season. But I wouldn't necessarily call it a small sample size either. It's still pretty darned good baseball played over what amounts to over 75% of a full season's worth of games.

We know they were playing as good or better than just about everyone else at the end of last season, record wise, and it's carried over fairly well into this season. You could say really well, seeing as how the Reds are a first place team. That's basically equal to 98 wins over the course of a full season. Now I'm pretty sure they won't win 98 this year, because they would have to go 49-27 over the last 76 games. Although if they did, I'd say they'd win the Central pretty easily. Playing just .500 the rest of the way would give us 87 wins. Whether that gets us to the postseason or not, obviously we can't really say. I'd split the difference and say if they can somehow stay healthy enough and good enough to win 92 or 93(Roughly the pace they're on anyway) then I'd like our chances of getting to the postseason in one way or another.
