You know what, the Phillies are giving Mike Leake the Reds treatment right now.

Seriously 59 pitches through 6 innings...

ILoveWilly
07-09-2010, 09:47 PM
59 pitches thru 6 innings. The most he's pitched this year was 108 pitches. With a big break coming up, give him a shot at the CG Dusty, he's earned it.

Jay put a great swing on that ball.

Kingspoint

It's going to be very interesting what they do with the pitching rotation after the All-Star break.

If you want to maximize Leake, you make him the 5th starter.

PK - "Edwin Volquez"

Volquez 89 pitches thru 5 2/3 - no hits

redsfan_12
07-09-2010, 09:49 PM
Id go with

1. Cueto
2. Arroyo
3. Harang
4. Volquez
5. Leake
with Wood being a 6th option

I'd go with:

1. Arroyo
2. Cueto
3. Harang
4. Wood
5. Leake

Let Volquez get two more starts in AAA.

Heisey with two hits now on the night. Making a case to get another start tomorrow. Stubbs certainly looked horrible last time out against Halladay, Heisey can't do any worse.

I believe it's time to get Volquez up to the majors. Volquez gets one more minor league start after tonight to keep him pitching while we go to the break. No reason to not have Volquez up IMO. The velocity seems to be there, he's been extended enough times in Louisville I think.

He pitches so much better than his line will show. That inning was stupid. A bloop hit, a seeing eye single, and a home run.

Now can Cordero get 2 outs with out giving up 2 runs? You know hes going to walk one of the next 3 terrible hitters for sure.

Leake just wasn't in the strike zone that inning like he had been the rest of the game. Sucks.

I couldn't care less about what his line looks like, but I care that I now have to deal with Cordero pitching in this game.

When your closer can't miss any bats, this is the kind of thing that happens. When he can't throw strikes, it makes things about 10x worse.
