I know Escobar is having a bad year but hes a career .291/.368/.403 hitter. Hes never been a great defensive SS but hes been above average.

I dont know what the Braves are thinking honestly in this trade. They must have really hated him to sell that low.

I have been researching this trade....I have no idea what the Braves were thinking...

Whats even worse that is that Yunel having a terrible year is and his OBP is higher than any of Gonzales single season marks.

Yunels career BA is only 3 points lower than Gonzos career OBP.

Yunel must have some serious mental problem for this deal to make sense.

Sure didn't see this one coming. I'm with everyone else - it's a head scratcher.

I've never really been that impressed with Escobar. He reminds me of when Felipe Lopez was first called up to play here. He has a lot of talent, but not trying to sound to cliche, I think he has some mental issues in regards to the game. I was watching the Mets/Braves game the other week and I saw Escobar botch a couple easy plays and nearly cause a season-ending injury for Troy Glaus due to a lazy throw.

It's called a panic move, something I hope Walt stays away from...

With the season Alex is having, I can't argue with the trade.. Glad to see him getting out of Toronto

Seems like the Braves got screwed. Toronto definitely got the better end. Wish we had Escobar though.

The Braves don't get rid of anyone, unless they have no value to the team.

They got rid of a guy who hasn't lived up to his talent and a pitcher they no longer need for a veteran SS, having a great year. Sounds like the Braves killed three birds with one stone.

I will have a personal laugh when AGon lives up to the contract he signed with the Reds by playing the Braves to the playoffs, just like he did in Boston.

Not a happy laugh btw...

They were talking about this on Mike & Mike this morning. They said the players were glad to see Escobar gone because they questioned his effort.

Buster Only on his twitter could not stop praising the Braves for the trade

I was at the game last night. Heard that ESPN ran this story that one of the players had a birthday, and Escobar came up, shook his hand and asked what he wanted for a gift. The player responded, "I want you to play hard."

Braves and JS are some of the shrewdest baseball men around. One of the reasons I hate the team so much. But you have to respect their moves. Guaranteed Braves will make the playoffs and AGon will be a big help.
