The ony hits for the Mets were a single by Tim Teufel with nobody out in the fifth inning, a one-out double by Dave Magadan in the sixth, and a one-out single by Magadan in the eighth. Sid Fernandez and Wally Whitehurst combined on a five-hitter in a losing effort for the Mets. The only hits for the Reds were a one-out infield single by Mariano Duncan in the first inning, a leadoff double by Duncan in the fourth, a one-out RBI double by Eric Davis in the fourth, a leadoff triple by Duncan in the sixth, and a one-out RBI double by Davis in the sixth.

Record: 53-31, 7.5 game lead in the NL West.

Hunter with the first pitch in the bottom of the seventh, triggering a bench-clearing brawl. Hunter charged Sullivan, who dropped Hunter with three quick punches. When the dust settled, Sullivan was ejected for the Reds, while Hunter, manager Buddy Bell, and 1B Todd Helton were tossed for the Rockies.

IIRC, the Reds acquired Brian Hunter in a trade a couple weeks after this brawl.
