Reds needed to put something on there with Heisey up. Too much pressure for a rookie hitter.

You can't win them all. Personally, I think it was an all around well played game. The other team just played better today. We had our chances, but were unable to capitalize. :dunno: Lost the game, but won the series.

last game I attended, on a Sunday, also a 1-0 loss.

Wasting a lot of good pitching this year, this team should be better than its record

BP has to get on base and Nix batting cleanup is just brutal - no protection for Votto or Gomes.

Jeff made a good point today......these guys have 4 HR the game before....they get settled here and start hacking and taking HR swings...beacuse they know all it takes is one here...very easily. I also think Rolen might be the MVP based on how much they usually stiunk with him out....and only him out. Not talking about Bruce being out...beacuse I do not know if it would have mattered...but clearly Rolen being out turns this offense into a 1982 version.

The Cardinals have offense to go along with pitching. Our offense comes and goes. Not good. We've blowm a 3 game lead in a week. Not a sign of a championship club, unfortunately.

It's criminal to have a kid like Travis wood pitch 14-15 innings, allow 5 hits and 1 run and him not get a win. Just criminal.

Ron Madden

Today's Reds game was very disappointing. There were far too many swinging strikes on balls out of the strike zone. Yet they never changed their approach. It is one thing to lose 1-0 on the road to Hamels and Halladay. It is another to lose that way to Aaron Cook at home. They need to reorient themselves toward simply having good AB's and trusting in their teammates to pick them up.

The Cardinals are thin, but they get the most out of what they have. The Reds are deeper. It will be interesting to see if the Reds adjust their approach in this next series.

I wager any good team over the past 10 years has had a week stretch where they give up 3 games in the standings. The Reds are 4-6 in their last 10. The Cards are 6-4. Not the end of the world.

I agree with you. And disappointing is the right word, not "criminal" as was put elsewhere. And someone else said it well when they said we won the series, the Cardinals just happened to sweep. As much as I vented I hate the Dodgers, you can't win a division waiting on other teams to knock other contenders off. All we can control is our game.

I do hope we can see some adjustments because we've wasted a number of good pitching outings this season. Those add up and we need to come up better in those situations.

I wager any good team over the past 10 years has had a week stretch where they give up 3 games in the standings. The Reds are 4-6 in their last 10. The Cards are 6-4. Not the end of the world. No doubt. It's when they don't score any runs that it makes you open your eyes. When you are shut out in 4 of 10 games (and that's unheard of I believe), and in those games the opposition only scores 6 runs, you have to wonder about a lot of things. I'm not one to stick my head in the stands and hope everything works out because that never happens.
