He'll play 1b to give Votto rest. I'm guessing Corky will be gone, and when we sign Izzy maybe send Fisher back down? What do you think?

Hernandez will be activated tomorrow and will play 1st to give Votto a day and to ease Ramon and his knee back in #reds

That's good news. :) I think we'll see Russ Springer before Izzy though.

We desperately need a better back up first baseman.

I'd rather move Cairo to 1b and Janish to 3b.

If Micah Owings had learned to play first base he still might have a job. :ughmamoru

They will DL Rolen which opens a spot for Ramon. Izzy is at least a month away given he hasn't pitched in a year, so he will be a Sept call up once the rosters expand, I see Springer coming up if he does well in a few weeks and Fisher going down then. When Rolen comes off the DL Corkey goes down.

If Ramon plays first I doubt they DFA Corky, they would need a backup. They will wait until both Hernandez and Hanigan are at full strength.

So whom gets sent down or DL?

So whom gets sent down or DL?

Probably a pitcher if they keep Corky around.

Rolen goes to DL, retroactively since his last game

if there is any doubt about his hammy i'd say DL him.. The question is.. do we call drew sutton up or what do we do?

ramon would take Rolen's spot on the roster, we then have Cairo and Janish to play 3rd, wait, we have Cairo to play third and pray he doesn't get hurt since Janish can't sniff playing time.

I would not hesitate to put Rolen on the DL. Cairo has been swinging a good bat lately and Janish plays a great D. Of course we are losing some production, but there's no point in playing with a man down every day and then trying to rush him back.

the problem with hamstrings are it takes rest and usually more then just a week or so. So do the Reds go out and try to find 3rd base help, say like a Miguel Tejada?

WHY? Cairo and Janish are more than capable to play third.

John Kruk just suggested the Reds take a look at Ty Wiggington.

Probably another pitcher that Dusty fails to pitch but only every 16 days or so.
