Nix has been a disaster all in all this season.
Can Matthews Jr. be an upgrade over Nix as our 5th OF and PH from either side of the plate?

Not a chance AND in fact will do more harm to this team then Nix could ever do.
Its certainly debatable, but they wouldnt fit the same roles. Nix is supposedly our LH power bat off the bench. Where as Mathews would probably be playing CF more than Nix does. Mathews would play the role of Heisey more than he would play the role of Nix, and I have a really really hard time believing that he would do a better job than Heisey would at that job. Age isnt on his side, his track record for the last 3 years certainly isnt and by all accounts I'm not sure hes the best club house guy.
Nix should probably get replaced but it isnt by someone similar to him, it should be by someone who is a bat that fits the role of back up first baseman, and can do spot starts in LF. We have the utility OFer covered.

This is kinda like picking if I'd rather be punched in the face or stomach.
