LOUISVILLE, Ky. --
LOUISVILLE NEWS: Daniel Ray Herrera
Clark County Jail
Cincinnati Reds pitcher Daniel Ray Herrera was arrested early Wednesday morning walking in Clark County, Ind.

Police said Herrera, 25, was walking along northbound US 31 when he was stopped by Indiana State Police at 4:18 a.m.

ISP arrested Herrera and charged him with public intoxication. When he arrived at the Clark County Jail, his blood alcohol level tested at 0.228.

Herrera is due to be released from the Clark County Jail at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The left-handed pitcher signed with the Reds in 2008. He's currently on assignment with the Louisville Bats and pitched in the eighth inning Tuesday night.

Guess we know now what's stunted his growth.

That sounds dangerous, walking along a highway that late at night drunk as a skunk.

A local guy was walking north on US 31 in Kokomo, IN not long ago. His BAC was way lower than DRH...... only the local go got ran over by a car and died immediately.

At his weight that is 10 drinks + 1 drink for every hour he was drinking. That's a good night.

Of course those numbers are assuming he did the breathalyzer at his peak. Probably more drinks than that.

This is serious, a game night, and very late in the evening, so he consumed a lot very quickly. could be signs of a drinking problem.

I called that type of night Thursday, Friday, or Saturday in college.

Let that be a lesson to everyone out there:

Drive drunk, don't walk drunk.

Oh wait... that's a terrible lesson.

Being booked for public intoxication is supposed to be reserved for when people do stupid crap in public while drunk. Otherwise, you could book half of GABP right when the game gets out.

The cop had two choices. Give the kid a ride home and maybe a talking to on the way....or be a ****** and book him for public intoxication.

I hate the public intoxication reason for arresting. I think it's stupid. If they were worried about him getting hit or hurt, then just help him out. But atleast he didn't drive anywhere.

Plenty of people get drunk on the weekends or go out partying, drink a ton of drinks, and have people to help them get home safely. A cop could walk into any bar and find several people way over the limit having one of those nights.

Public intoxication is a stupid reason to arrest someone unless they're in danger.

.

He should be allowed to walk anywhere in any state as long as he's not hurting anyone else. stupid.

Apparently you guys didn't get the full story...Daniel Ray took a taxi!!! The taxi driver called the police because he was "irate". When the cop showed up, he was still in the front seat of the taxi.

Cops being cops, what else is new. Public intoxication has gotta be the dumbest crime I've heard of.

LOUISVILLE NEWS: Daniel Ray Herrera
Clark County Jail
Cincinnati Reds pitcher Daniel Ray Herrera was arrested early Wednesday morning walking in Clark County, Ind.

Sgt. Jerry Goodin said ISP received a call from a Yellow Taxi Cab driver headed northbound on Interstate 65 that he had an irate passenger and needed assistance around 3:30 a.m.

When police arrived, the cab had pulled over on US 31 northbound at Lewis and Clark Parkway. Herrera, 25, was sitting in the front seat of the cab.

??? He can he be sitting and walking? And why do the times differ so much? And the roads change? Confusing story!

And...that's the difference.

It's one thing to do it while you're the age of Herrera, and quite another to do it after you're supposed to have "grown up".

.228 is a "huge" red flag.

There's more than a 50-50 chance he's alcoholic. But, it's not necessarily so. Could have just been some "over-celebrating".

The cop had two choices. Give the kid a ride home and maybe a talking to on the way....or be a ****** and book him for public intoxication.

The easiest solution is to just put him in the drunk tank and let him out after he sobers up....about 10:00 a.m.

Well, they thought he was sitting in the taxi and then they realized he was standing up.

Shoulda just given him a lollipop and told him to run on home to mommy.

I had a buddy walking back to his hotel from a bar after a game 5 years ago one night-it was only 2 blocks away. He didnt drink any that night-he didn't drink much at all really. A cop stoppped him as he was walking to see if he was drunk, was giving him field sobriety tests, etc, told him to wait at his car when done. A drunk driver came from behind and hit the cop car, which in turn ran over my buddy and killed him instantly. Cop still tried to cover and say he thought he was drunk, even when the bartender said he drank nothing but soda and water all night, was not drunk, and blood tests came back showing nothing, etc.
