Is there any reason he always bats toward the bottom? What would be wrong with putting him after Rolen?

Because catcher bats 8th man

Well this may be a rule I don't know about. Is it an NL only rule? Correct me if I am wrong but didn't Pudge bat up in the order for Detroit?

It's in Dusty Baker's book of rules.

It is....it says so in the Cliff Notes that Dusty uses to manage.

Personally I think it's time to go the LaRussa route. #7) Catcher, #8) Pitcher, #9) Stubbs. ;)

Actually in all seriousness I think that would be effective in one case: when Leake is pitching.

Leake should be hitting 2nd when he pitches.
