if we dont score, you can't blame it on dusty. This is the best lineup he can throw out there

I really like this lineup, hard to believe we are putting a good lineup out there for a Sunday game!! Seems like dusty always puts his worst lineups together on Sundays.

I'm getting the Braves feed, and the announcers said that Rick Ankiel would be starting in Center. They were talking about him like the second coming of Dale Murphy. "36 HR's in the last 2 years" LOL....He hit 25 in '08, got named on that steroid list of 100 players, and then hit 11 last year.

He hovered at the Mendoza line all season and led the NL in strikeout per AB %. He has a strong arm, but he never met a cut off man he could'nt miss. His one strength: he can hit r/h pitching if you grove a fastball. Breaking stuff away and he will S.O. every time. I think Baker is aware of that. He will be an automatic out if pitched correctly to.

Who is calling the game on FS Ohio today? My MLB TV package is blacked out today because I am getting the Braves broadcast on FS South. Sucks.

These are the same guys who the other night commented that our bullpen was short on depth and used Mike Lincoln being on the DL as an example of why.

I don't know... he seems to locate his fastball better than his offspeed stuff. Of course, that might not be saying much but I think Chris Welsh has it right. He's throwing too much offspeed stuff and that's not working for him right now.

RedsFanInBama
08-01-2010, 01:50 PM
One of Volquez's main problems is that he is in love with his new curve ball. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he has it, but he dominated this league in 2008 by throwing fastball-change up. Stick with that, and mix in a curveball occasionally. He throws the curve way more than the change since he came back it seems.

No because every time Thom gets on TV hes busy takling about how great the Reds worst players are. If you listened to Thom you would believe Gomes, Cabrera, Nix, and Cairo have single handedly carried this team all year. Harping on the bad when a good player plays, but championing every thing good for bad players. It gets old.

I've listened to Thom a lot. The only time I've heard this complaint is right now. I don't think it's a coincidence that it's you complaining because someone is pointing out how dreadful Bruce has played for the past month. Really, look at the past month and tell me he's been anything but one of the worst regular starters in the league in period of time. Who cares if someone points it out.

What do you want him to say? "Bruce is in a little slump right now, but he's still a great player. Meanwhile, Nix, Cabrera and Cairo are playing well right now but they really aren't very good."?

LOL. It doesn't matter who we put in the outfield I guess. Our starters out there are 0-for-5 with four K's so far today. Just another day at the office for those guys.

That's 31 straight Sunday innings without a run. What a joke.

Everyone here has outfield concerns. But the point is who should we have gotten? Ankiel? Podsednik?

By the way, Ryan Howard had to leave today's game with an ankle injury sustained while running into second base. Not sure how serious, but that could give Joey an opening for the RBI race (so long as he doesn't have to face Tommy Hanson any more this season).

rolenmvp

the thing about it is rolen is that with our offense today, you know good and well the braves will get 1 or more runs and we will be screwed, you can't go like this and not get any runs, it will come back to haunt you.

I don't know. I wanted DeJesus, but obviously that went out the door when he got hurt. A number of Reds fans I talk to wanted Choo from the Indians, but he probably wasn't even on the trading block.

The New Zealand rugby team is called the All Blacks. Before each match, they perform a Haka, which is a sort of Maori warrior dance. Essentially, it's used to intimidate their opponents.

I see Dusty's doing whatever he can to stop the Sunday bleeding starting both Rolen and Heisey today.
