The Bats are trying for the sweep against the Clippers. They're quickly off to a 3-0 lead thanks to a leadoff double by Drew Sutton, who was sacrificed to third by Cozart. Yonder Alonso drove Sutton in on a single and then scored on a double by Todd Frazier. Frazier scored on a single by Wladimir Balentien.

The bats are ridiculous. As bad as they struggled early on, they're just a powerhouse right now. It's fun to see.

I remember people posting stuff along the lines of "Someone is going to pay dearly when this team stops slumping" apparently they slumped so long that every single team in the international league is paying for it.
Maloney has some control problems. Two hit batsmen in the first.
3-1 Bats
Bases loaded and 2 out for the Clips
Then a double
4-3 Clips
Griffin with a solo shot.

8-7 Bats, 3 run jack by Frazier with Denove and Alonso on.
Frazier now 3 for 3 with a HR and double and 4 RBIs.
This one might qualify as a slugfest.
Leadoff double for Denove in the 6th
Still 8-7 Bats
Rain delay in the middle of the 7th in Columbus
Still 8-7 Bats
The DSL Reds' game was suspended in the eighth inning, tied 2-2. But not before Carlos Sanchez added two hits (including a 2B) to raise his average to .365 and his OBP to .457.
And another good start for the inscrutable Eliezer Beard: 6.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K. His ERA is now 1.32. He's 19, 6-foot-4, 202 pounds. And he doesn't strike out very many.

Herrera gave up two runs in the bottom of the 8th inning and suffered the loss as Louisville lost 9-8 and saw their 11 game winning streak come to an end.

The DSL Reds finally won that game in 12. The relievers following Beard were outstanding. Jose Munoz had two hitless innings for the win, but the guy to watch, it seems, is Carlos Ramos: 3.1 IP, 1H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K. He's 19 (pretty much the norm for that league) and he's given up one earned run in 29.1 innings, with 33 K.
Justin Walker, just up from Dayton, debuted for Lynchburg tonight. It wasn't a good idea: 1.1 IP, 9 H, 8 R, 8 ER . . .
Mesoraco's not in the lineup for Carolina tonight. But Eric Eymann is having a big night and the Mudcats lead 8-1 in the sixth behind Matt Klinker.
Oh my goodness. Carolina, with Klinker pitching (followed by Medina), has actually blown an 8-1 lead. Huntsville scored 7 in the sixth, and it's now 8-8 in the eighth.
