Lucky that's why Byrd is overrated.

Doesn't ever walk.

Lee and Byrd both swung at ball 4.

Even if the Reds make the Playoffs, they are going to have a hard time advancing with Cordero as the closer.

Cordero will be the death of me.

As long as he stays around the knees, he's accurate. But he is wild high all the daggone time.

3 ball count on every batter this inning.

Its a good thing the Cubs have helped Cordero out in a couple of at bats.

I don't think they make the playoffs unless he gets hurt. The Reds have better options and yet his salary is the reason the Reds season might blow up.

Money matters.

If not for the Cubs impatience he wouldn't have recorded an out yet.

Even if he does get the job done, I'm sick of this crap with Cordero every single time he comes in.

How many more awful outings is it going to take for someone to realize that this guy is a middle reliever at best right now.

I mean this is a very non-personal way, but I would not be unhappy if Cordero needed to make an extended trip to the DL.

I'm going to have to amend my "Dusty isn't so bad" philosophy if he keeps running Cordero out there to close.

Your basic 28 pitch (13 strikes and 15 balls) save.

Gah.

I wonder if something is wrong with his arm.

That sounds right. We've hit 13 above a few times but I think this is the first time we've seen 14 this season.

Sure looks like it. Usually someone with a history of having good control doesn't go through this without an elbow injury.

Fun Bronson Arroyo fact:

Bronson is holding opposing RH hitters to a .176 BAA & .558 OPSA.

Juan with a shot past Lee....2 bagger!

That kid is going to be a monster off the bench down the stretch.

Yeah, but they gotta get him a real baseball number. #64 is a pulling guard for the Bengals.

I would switch him to #23.

(Other numbers that are currently unassigned and available are 3, 9, 15, and 16.)

I love high-numbered baseball players. It's usually a sign that you forced your way onto a roster as a youngster when no one expected you to contribute.

I love high-numbered baseball players. It's usually a sign that you forced your way onto a roster as a youngster when no one expected you to contribute.

I've gotten used to Ramon Hernandez (#55) and Bronson Arroyo (#61), especially since I know they wore those numbers with their previous clubs. Miguel Cairo (#43) seemed a little unusual at first, since middle infielders rarely wear numbers in the 40's--though I've come around since Cairo really isn't a middle infielder anymore. Numbers in the 50's don't bother me for pitchers, and I can tolerate numbers in the 60's for pitchers as well, since I know that a lot more numbers are being assigned.

But #64 for Juan Francisco just looks strange to me. IMO, of the "low numbers" available, #23 seems to suit him best, though I'm starting to think that #15 might also be a good fit since Sutton is no longer around.

BTW, I asked this question in another thread, but maybe you never saw it or I never saw the answer. Is that a "Weeping Angel" from Doctor Who in your avatar?
