How come this series isn't sold out yet? I just checked on line and there are tickets available in more than one price range.

Monday through Wednesday series.

The first two will probably sell out by game time. Yet you never know with a weekday day game.

Too much going on for people I think. School is about to start, families buying supplies and clothes. Football, soccer, etc practices starting. No ticket promotions.

That being said I'll be there Monday and Tuesday and there should be large walkup crowds after this series.

I tend to agree. I would think they are going to want their big 3 to face us this week.

Looks like the game is postponed, which means we go in with a 2 game lead. I like it.

Suppan will not start another game for the Cards. Lohse is due back in a week and they have several off days this month.

The cards set it up to have their big 3 pitch in this series. No way that changes.

It's been difficult to win against any of the current 5 in our starting rotation this year.

You can not give good teams extra outs.So far this season the Reds stand at 42
errors the Cards 72.Its going to come down to who commits the least errors and
who drives in the most runs when in scoring position. The Reds excel in both.

Just looking at Carpentar & Wainright for example. The Reds have to remember they dont have to "beat" these pitchers. Just have well pitched games by our starters and keep the game close. Maybe even get into the BP. I know the Reds started winning a few games that Oswalt started before they actually "beat" him. Winning 3-2 and beating Franklin tomorrow night will be fine with me. :beerme:

I agree about the walk-up, but I know Card fans don't hesitate to drive to Cincy, it's only 5+ hrs. I just hope the large walk-up isn't a bunch of Card fans.

This is war.....
Work, school preparation, H.S. sports practice be damned! If this series were being played in StL, you couldn't buy a ticket. And they're 2 games down.

give this city 2 more seasons of winning baseball and we will cancel the start of Ohio High School Football for the Reds postseason.....its just the way it is....it takes a little time to get the fans back into the winning mode. But rest assured, it will happen if the team puts a winning product on the diamond, this city will back its baseball team.

I know it's not likely but a sweet sweep of them would be nice! That would put us 5 games up. Two of three would be good. Since I'm in NY I'll be watching on the MLB network for Mondays game and ESPN is broadcasting Tuesdays game.

His one AA start was bad, but his two in AAA have been much improved.

The guy didn't pitch in like two months, this is why they do rehab starts

it's actually funny hearing their fans on their message boards, they are expecting the reds to win 2 out of 3 or sweep. they are not giving their cards any chance in this series.

one guy was like, if we get swept this season is over. they aren't giving them any chance, I hope we don't have that attitude because if we did, we would most likely have it happen, we have been treated to bad hospitality in the past from the cardinals and it's time to go in and take care of business.

I said in the other thread. The Reds are in a position to have a disappointing series and still come out in good position.

Cardinals are looking at this as a 2 of 3 must win type of series. Not exactly a must win, but if some how the Reds sweep Cardinals have to start asking themselves if they got enough to recover from a 5 game deficit.

It wouldnt be a world ender for either team if the series ended in a sweep but its going to be pretty devastating if the Reds some how do sweep it.

I like the lead; I don't like the Cards essentially having a day off before the series in Cincinnati, though.

I don't really see it that way. They still had to prepare, go to the park, focus on the game plan and the Marlins, and sit around for hours "maybe" playing. Then get into Cincy later than they expected. Their pitching rotation isn't affected. I guess the whole bullpen did get a day off. All in all I don't see much difference.

Back to the series...I am very interested to see how Leake does tonight. He has all the makings of a long term standout and this is his first test in a "big game" against a stud pitcher. He (and Wood) seems to be very cerebral pitchers and I am guessing has the mettle to be a big game pitcher.
