Was wondering what the latest on this was. Found this article on the two scenarios.

Wonder when they have to decide by. I know which option I'm rooting for.

So it's ultimately the Cards choice. Unbelievable.

I knew I had heard a reason why that option wasn't possible.

Oh, it's possible. There is a very real possibility that the game will be made up on October 4 in St. Louis with the Cardinals designated as the visiting team.

Nah they will move it to a neutral location like Kansas City.

Very amateurish article. The guy is predicting the starters over 45 days out? It's comical just to predict starters at this point.

Yea... maybe the Marlins (once eliminated from race) can reset their roto to make sure it's Josh johnson vs. Cards that day.

Anyone know the address to send Edwin Rodriguez some wine+flowers?

After the rosters expand, all bets are off.

Well, then the simple answer for the Reds is to lead the Cards by 1.5 games or more at the end of play on Oct. 3. Then the Cards can go home. If the Reds lead by a .5 game at the conclusion of the regular season (or even trail by .5 game) then the Cards have to play.

How about this scenario: The Cards have to play on 10/4 and the result of the game results in a tie between the Reds and Cards. That would mean that the Reds and Cards would have to playoff on 10/5. That moves the NL playoffs back. Especially if the loser of such a playoff game would still earn the Wild Card. (Unless there are rules in place that are designed to decide this based upon something like head-to-head, divisional record, coin flip, etc.) Fun, fun, fun.

I have an idea/question.

Given the fact that the Marlins never draw more than a few thousand people per game anyway, couldn't they move it to another location within Miami or nearby, such as the field used by the Hurricanes baseball team?

I think that the field has to be approved by MLB. They probably have a better chance of moving the game to San Juan.

That's not fair at all to the Reds. The game needs to be played in Florida, if not Miami, then Tampa Bay.

The depths of the unfairness if that comes to pass will be hard to comprehend.

I actually had the same idea in a different thread. But, as Big Klu said, the field has to be approved by MLB and this probably won't.

Any scenario where the Cards don't make it up in Busch is alright by me. And 44 games in 45 days?!? Wow that would be insane.

Maybe the makeup game won't be necessary.

Echoing OBM's post... here's the full story and reasoning behind the Cards' decision.

Expanded rosters will help them during that crazy stretch... but unless there's a young stud SP ready for call-up, I'll repeat my belief that this handcuffs Tony's ability to shuffle the roto for key matchups.

Unless Tony makes it a bullpen day. Everybody pitches.

I hope the Reds don't get rained out here the rest of the way out. There is not much window for those guys either.
