Since the team budget going into next year is going to be determined by alot of Arbitration cases, thought this would be of interest. If we could get Cueto on a similar deal vs Arbitration, I would be ecstatic. Thoughts?

Romero will receive a $1.25MM bonus, according to Toronto GM Alex Anthopoulous via conference call. The lefty will earn $750K in 2011, $5MM in 2012, and $7.5MM each year from 2013 through 2015. The option in 2016 will be for $13MM with a $600K buyout.I'd be pretty happy with something similar to that for Cueto.

Dang. That is one heck of a deal. Nice job by the Toronto GM.

I like it, but I'd be inclined to go a little higher in year one and cut-off a year or maybe two. Cueto is a short righty who tends to over-throw. I don't expect a long career as an effective starter. Maybe three or four more good years and then a re-emergence in the pen.

$2.5 Mill, $5 Mill, $7.5 Mil, $8 Mil and then an option at $10 Mill with a $2 Mill buy-out.
