The second-place DSL Reds lost the first game of a doubleheader in eight innings to the first-place (and dominating) Cubs, 4-1. Carlos Sanchez again led the offense, going 2 for 3 to raise his average to .363. Reliever Carlos Ramos' ERA is now 0.32. I repeat, 0.32.

Carolina jumped on top 2-0 on one hit in the first, but Mobile has come back to tie it up in the fourth. Klinker on the mound.

Cody Puckett with his 15th jack on the season stakes Lynchburg to a 1-0 lead after 3. Villareal, hurling for the Hillcats, has struck 4 in 3IP.

Reed starts the game off with a triple and scores later in the inning. 1-0 Dragons after three. Daniel Corcino has K'd 5 in the first three innings.
Daniel Corcino is still just 19, although he will turn 20 later this month.

Harang getting hit again. Through the 5th. 8 Hits, 1 HR, 5 ER. 0 BB and 5 K though.

Hmmmm....well, I thought that if he was solid during his rehab starts he might force his way back into the rotation. It's certainly looking more and more like that's simply NOT gonna happen. Shame. I really loved Harang in a Reds uniform. We might not ever see that again.

Klinker gives up a two run shot and the Mudcats are up 5-4 in the fifth. Mr. Klinker has given up two round trippers tonight.

Harang's final line:

6 IP, 9H, 6 ER, 1 HR, 0 BB, 5K. 95 pitches, 70 Strikes. Its not all bad. He still may help in September.

Klinker has 88 pitches logged through his six innings. I'd like to see him stay with it through seven and see if Freeman and Joseph work the eighth and ninth respectively.

I am hoping Walt rethinks this September 1st idea. Chapman has to be a better option that both Bray and Smith right now.

I am just impressed with how his control has been lately, very impressive.

After some suspense, the Mudcats hold on to win, 6-4. The game ended with runners on second and third for Mobile but Baez got it done. Klinker gets the win, Joseph is solid and Jake Kahauileo drives in three for the Mudcats.

An RBI a game and a .368 batting average.... that Yorman kid can play some. I would love to see him come up and get a sniff of Dayton before he heads there again next year.

Pedro Villarreal opened the season as a starter in Dayton, and did well. He was then transferred to the bullpen, and did poorly. Now he's up with Lynchburg, made his second straight start, and looked sharp: 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K. The Hillcats won, 7-0.

I've been reading these threads for a few years now and just wanted to say thanks to all of you who post updates on a regular basis. I learn something new every day. Great stuff.

With all of the emerging and established talent in the minor leagues (everyone from Torreyes to Chapman), this is most entertaining thread every night.

And, 104? I can't remember any other pitcher touching 104 on the gun. Amazing.

If Torreyes could hit a little he would be a decent prospect.

What kind of prospect is Luca Panerati? In six games split between AZL and Billings his numbers are: 11.2IP 3H 0R 0ER 2BB 14K.

Maybe he is someone different than I'm thinking but if he is who I think he is then he's been toiling away in rookie ball or less for quite some time now. Not a good sign. I thought he was signed with another Italian kid 3-4 years ago, Pizziconi maybe.

Yes, that is him. Panerati is a guy who, at least prior to this season, was throwing low to mid 80's on his fastball.

The boxscore doesn't really tell how hittable Harang was. There were several well hit balls that were caught. His FB was 93-94 and his delivery looked strained. Power was working with him during warmup. Didn't do much good. The pitcher for the Chiefs, Zimmerman, looked very impressive. Horst did not.

Dorn got his 2nd error of the season.

Francisco has GOT to do something about not losing his bat on a hard swing. He did it again last night, TWICE.
