How did Fay get the lineup 5 1/2 hours before game time?

Kershaw (a lefty) scheduled for LA.

He's been tough on the REDs.

Phillips 3 for 6
Votto 1 for 7 with 5Ks
Stubbs 0 for 6 with 3Ks
Gomes 1 for 5 with a double, the only XBH that current REDs have against Kershaw.

Kershaw is a good pitcher. He is pretty much tough on a lot of gents.

How did Fay get the lineup 5 1/2 hours before game time?

320

Educated guess: Someone is sending it out electronically via text or email to the coaches and players. Fay is either on this distribution list or some one on the list is sending it out to him immediately.

Or pillow talk with Dusty. :D

Well yeah, LOL, but it's almost never out more than 3.5 hours before a home game, or more than 3 hours or so for a road game. Players, coaches, etc. are barely starting to show up to the park 5.5 hours before game time.

LINEUP CHANGE: Hanigan is now catching and batting 6th. According to Sheldon it "wasn't a scratch or anything" the original lineup he and Fay apparently got was just wrong.

Dusty usually sets the lineup for a day-game-after-night-game the prior night. It's why everyone knew Heisey would be starting today. Probably made a small tweak to the very early version the writers originally had.

Words really can't describe how poorly Gomes has been for 3 months. Sub .700 with very poor defense to boot. (pardon the pun). No homers in a month. 1 ribeye in August.

Career-wise, he's .500 (6-6) at Dodger Stadium, with an ERA of 2.48

I saw a guy turn to see where the wall was so he could time his attempt to catch it.

Some just like to criticize Stubbs for any and everything he does. Not saying you do, but we haven't seen nearly enough plays near the wall for anyone to conclude he is poor near the wall, as there have been several incredible catches that he has made at the wall as well.

Homer....I've seen enough major league outfielders over the last 35 years to know who plays the wall well and who doesn't. Drew plays laterally and in better than 95% of outfielders I've seen. His play at or around the wall is well below average. He is a different player when around the wall.....and I hope he can learn his way aorund it a little better, as it will solidify the fact that he is a gold glove outfielder otherwise. The videos you posted the other day are good evidence of this. No one is saying he 'can't' make catches, or very good catches at the wall. That doesn't negate the fact that he is overly tentative on those plays.
