His name is being discussed as possibly going to the Yankees presumably after passing through the entire NL on waivers. If I'm the Reds I pick this guy up even if it does mean 2.7 million dollars. You need another consistent starter and Kuroda is having a good year - 3.48 ERA/1.24 WHIP/.670 OPS against. Those numbers hold up pretty good with the home/road splits too. Playoff experience in 2008 and 2009 also.

I'm good with that, we can always use another arm, and some good experience.

I like how we had the deepest starting rotation in the NL like two days ago, and now we are desperate for a starter.

36 year old retired St. Louis Cardinal former starting pitcher, Matt Morris, looking for a comeback. Jocketty is probably on the phone right now.

I would be shocked if no NL team grabbed this guy. And I would gladly take him on the Reds roster right now.

Would love to have Kuroda..

Kuroda, Arroyo, Cueto and Bailey in the post season rotation would be sick

How is Kuroda's contract constructed? He makes a ton from his 3 year deal. Yet he doesn't have his 6 years in the league. Is he simply arbitration eligible for the next 3 years? If that is it, heck, he might be worth a look. Sure, he is getting old. Yet if you take Kuroda maybe you could let go of Arroyo and get a decent replacement at a cheaper rate. If he declines too much in a year or so, no big deal, just let him go. No long term deals.

Of course I have no idea what his arbitration would be like, or if that is all he gets then he just heads back to Japan.

From everything I read he will be a type B free agent. I suppose there is a clause that limits those 6 years for older players, or maybe his contract was a unique situation that allows for earlier free agency.
