Wow, that's really interesting. They must not expect Volquez to be able to go more this year it sounds like.

It seems like there is a loophole to every rule.

Wonder why Dayton and not Carolina? Maybe a little off topic but it seems like Carolina is the red headed stepchild of the minor league affiliates, not that I can blame the Reds since they have the two strongest Triple A and Single A affiliates in baseball. But has Carolina been granted a rehab assignment all year?

True, but does it really matter? Flying is flying.

Yeah, but you can drive to Dayton in an hour.

Will Volquez actually pitch for the Dragons? Or will he just be taking up space on the roster for the next 7 days?

He's going to start there I heard. Apparently they made some changes to his mechanics and he's going to test it there.

I wonder if Volquez is thinking "Oh crap!" When things weren't going well for him in Texas, they sent him to single A and started him over as a punishment.

Moves make sense.

Of course, I'd have brought up Maloney instead of Harang.

This time I bet they don't try to make him cut off the dreads...

i would imagine volquez will get a start or two to iron out his control with no pressure.. i think it will be the best thing for volquez.. hopefully he will be a number 3 or 4 starter before the end of the season for the reds.. his velocity is there

Nothing in two years. However, they did send Maloney to us like they are doing Volquez so I guess that's the only one 'good' thing they did for us.
