1. C: A) Decline Hernandez option & add Mesoraco or Corky Miller as 2nd catcher, B) Decline Hernandez option and sign a free agent as second catcher, C) Keep Ramon & Hanigan both

C. Ramon has exceeded my expectations this year. No reason to cut ties with him right away. Let Mes develop and if he becomes a star then trade Ramon like the Giants did Molina

2. 2B: A) Trade Brandon Phillips and use Valaika or B) Status Quo

B. I only trade BP it that means I am bringing a big time upgrade to the offense.

3. SS: A) Exercise Cabrera option to keep status quo, B) Make Janish the starter and find a backup from within the system, C) Use Cozart, Valaika or another existing guy the starter or D) Go out and find an everyday starting SS from outside the system

C. I like Cabrera but I think his vet presence won't be in as high demand as before

4. LF: A) Gomes, B) Heisey, C) Nix, D) Francisco, E) Dorn, F) Balentien, G) Alonso or H) Outside help

H. Don't think Alonso can cut it in LF. Gomes has played himself out of his option.

5. Find a spot for: A) Francisco, B) Frazier, C) Valaika or D) Alonso

E. None of the above. Valaika will have a role next season. I find a LF whether that is Alonso, Francisco, Frazier or a FA. I do not find a spot for an unproven player.

6. Keep Cairo: A) Yes, B) No

B. Thanks but Valakia is better

7. Exercise Arroyo option: A) Yes, B) No

A. No brainer to me

8. Trade a starter for help elsewhere? A) Yes, B) No

A. Yes. Find LF help in FA or trade market.

9. First odd man out for 2011: A) Bailey, B) Volquez, C) Leake, D) Wood, E) Chapman, F) Cueto

B. Don't like the prospects Volquez right now.

10. Second odd man out for 2011 if Arroyo is kept: A) Bailey, B) Volquez, C) Leake, D) Wood, E) Chapman, F) Cueto

E. Hammer in the pen

11. Keep riding the Rhodes train: A) Yes, B) No

B. Tough call but I have a feeling the Rhodes train is about to derail.

12. LHP reliever of choice: A) Bray, B) Herrera, C) S.O.S.!

A. Its SOS but I give Bray one more shot.

13. Least faith in: A) Fisher, B) J. Smith, C) Ondrusek

A. Really no debate

14. Joey Votto long-term extension: A) 10 years or more, B) 5-9 years, C) 2-4 years, D) None yet, just arbitrate or 1-year deal

A. 2nd year in a row putting up Pujols numbers. Give me Votto through his prime.

15. Jay Bruce long-term extension: A) 10 years or more, B) 5-9 years, C) 2-4 years, D) None, just arbitrate or 1-year deal

D. Let him prove he can be more consistent. No reason to act now.

16. Cordero in 2011: A) Yes, B) No, but promote within if Cordero can be traded, C) Find a taker at all costs and sign or trade for a new closer

A. Unless there is a taker Cordero has value. Has been good once he fixed his mechanics

17. Add Dorn to the 40-man, A) Yes or B) No

B.

18. Include Balentien in the 25-man mix, A) Yes or B) No

B

19. Trade Alonso: A) Yes or B) No

A. Unless he can play LF there isn't room for Alonso.

20. More fun than 2000-2009: A) Yes, B) Yes, C) Yes or D) Yes

A

1.c- I think he's got enough left in the tank after this year, and the organization's catching depth is pretty thin

2.b- Why on earth would I trade Phillips

3.b- I think he can handle it

4.b- He's just the best choice

5.a- he could be a beast off the bench

6.b- nope, he's had a great year I don't think he can match, let him ride off into the sunset, and let the organization's infield depth handle it

7.a- need the innings, veteran-ship, not to mention the good pitching

8.b- probably not, the only one I would trade is Stubbs, and only if he can bring a legit, young, knock-your-socks-off, left or center fielder

9.a- I think they'll all be here, and it came down to Homer or Leake, and I think Leake gets the edge

10.c- I guess Leake, whatever.

11.a- WHY NOT?!

12.c- SOS, Chapman

13.a- Just think he's the weakest one

14.a- Think it's the smartest choice, looks like a great hitter for a LONG time

15.c- I could still see him eventually be a bust. Don't want to be tied up with him forever

16.b- I don't think it's urgent, but I think Chapman could handle it

17.a- yes, he seems to be hitting very well, there isn't much room on the 40-man, though

18.a- in the mix- yes.

19.a- If you can get a good SS or LF, yes

20.c- of course

1. C: A) Decline Hernandez option & add Mesoraco or Corky Miller as 2nd catcher, B) Decline Hernandez option and sign a free agent as second catcher, C) Keep Ramon & Hanigan both

C - money will always be tight but I think its a big leap for Mesoraco to go from A+ to the show in one year. I'd rather he got more time at AAA

B

G. use Heisey as the 4th outfielder. He'll get 300 ABs.

5. Find a spot for: A) Francisco, B) Frazier, C) Valaika or D) Alonso

D

6. Keep Cairo: A) Yes, B) No

B - Miguel has been great. However, this role can likely be filled from within in 2011 (Frazier, Valaika, Francisco, etc)

A

8. Trade a starter for help elsewhere? A) Yes, B) No

B

9. First odd man out for 2011: A) Bailey, B) Volquez, C) Leake, D) Wood, E) Chapman, F) Cueto

Tough. Cueto & Arroyo are our best two starters. Chapman has TOR potential as does a healthy Volquez. I'll say C.

Just a quick poll among you. I'll tally the answers as they come in, and we'll see if a roster 'consensus' can be found among Redszone.

1. C: A) Decline Hernandez option & add Mesoraco or Corky Miller as 2nd catcher, B) Decline Hernandez option and sign a free agent as second catcher, C) Keep Ramon & Hanigan both

2. 2B: A) Trade Brandon Phillips and use Valaika or B) Status Quo

Good post thread idea Brutus.

1. I really think they ought to find a better fit at Catcher, seems like they could put that money to better use but with all the young hispanic/latino pitchers I could see why they'd keep him. So sans some catastrophic injury/meltdown from here on out, pick up the option. C

2. I would really hate to deal BP with the strides he has made but I doubt there will be a better time to deal him from here on out and I think they will want those dollars he is in line for down the road. But have to get the right return. Deal him (but get a good return Walt) A.

3. Gonna add an option here, a Janish/Cozart competition E. winner starts (hope it's Cozart).

4. I think a Dorn/Heisey platoon-ish type deal if not outside help. Heisey has some work to do at the plate IMO, not as rosy on him as I was before. But I think his issues are mostly fixable and not a dealbreaker for me. But since I'm greedy and I can't see Dorn getting a chance I'll say outside help here as I'm not a fan of either Juan or Yonder in LF H.

5. I'd say Valaika C. as I think Frazier is gonna be a mid season callup and again just don't see a fit for Juan and Alonso.

6. Cairo has done great and depending on what happens with BP and Valaika I could see Cairo being a potential bench piece again. So let's call it C. A maybe.

7. I really think it again depends on other moves. But I'll go ahead and vote B. no at this point that money could go to a Greinke or the like.

8. A. Big time, need to find an ace. Greinke is a dream acquisition but one that needs done IMO.

9. Can't decide. If I had it my way I'd deal Volquez and Bailey (or less if I could get away with it) for Greinke and have Zach head this staff....Greinke, Chapman, Cueto, Wood, Leake

10. Again can't decide. See above.

11. A. yes offer Arthur arb. and hopefully he signs elsewhere giving us another pick, if not I am ok with him being back one more year.

12. A. Bray I still think is a solid LHR, Herreras time as effective big leaguer is done IMO.

13. A. Easily Fisher IMO his mechanics don't allow for consistency and you can't have an inconsistent guy out there costing you games.

14. B. I think a 7 year deal for Joey is what you do, he'll be 27 Sept. 10 so he'd be 34 at the end of his deal, just about the time guys fall way off. Take it 1 or 2 years at a time then. Frontload the deal so his contract goes down as his production does, 1st 4 years big money, last 3 secondary dollars.

15. Ideally A. if you can get the right deal but I doubt he'd sign for 10 years at a reasonable rate, so I'd sign him to C. a reasonable/affordable 4 year deal right now. Then when Vottos dollars come down you can then afford to give a 27 year old Bruce a big time 7 year contract. Keeping both thru their primes.

16. I gotta go A., 2 weeks ago I'd have been all over dealing him but he seems to have worked out his kinks and you need a good closer on a playoff team. I like Masset but not sure he is quite ready for that role just yet. Gives he and Arredondo a season to see if either can be the answer in 2012.

17. A. I like Dorn and think he is undervalued by the F.O. but I don't see it happening.

18. B. No not a Wlad fan, he's had a reasonable time to show his worth, 25 man no way.

19. A. I like the kids potential with the maple but no place to play him, he's gotta go.

20. All of the above.

20. Should have been a Dusty question, I'm all for him staying or going. At this point I guess for the good of the players I'd rather he stay but no longer than 2 years right now. The key here is for the the Reds to at least appear like they are being more than fair to Dusty so the players don't have a chip on their shoulders about the situation if he walks. Right now 1 yr doesn't qualify as more than fair.

1. C. Bring both nack (as long as Ramon is affordable). If not, bring in a young backup to batle with Corky. Mes starts in L'Ville unless his camp performance forces the issue

2&3. B. Phillips, Valaika, Janish & Cozart would be my middle infielders, but I bet Walt brings back Cabrerra, Cairo or both.

4. B&C. Heisey and Alonso fight for the job unless Yonder is dealt

5. A or B. Both are versatile enough to help, probably not room on the bench for both. One of them or Alonso is probably dealt over the Winter

6. B. (see 2/3)

7. A. definitely. Don't let 200 innings a year walk with no return when under your control. If nothing else, bring him back and deal him at the deadline.

8. A. Maloney - maybe another for the right return but I wouldn't be in a hurry. Cueto goes no where.

9. C. depends on who is or isn't dealt, but I'll say Leake starts the year in AAA. Not certain this year will be Chapman's last in the pen too.

10. B. Volquez, butdepends entirley on health and performances of all candidates

11. A. Yes, but may depend on plans for Aroldis

12. B. again depends on Rhodes/Chapman, but probably Bray until Joseph is ready.

13. A. but still have faith in him - just like the others better. If healthy, Arrendando may be even better than these three

14&15 D. unless the price is right

16. B. Deal him when you can

17. A.

18. A. let him battle

19. C. depends on the return

20. E. All of the above

1. C: A) Decline Hernandez option & add Mesoraco or Corky Miller as 2nd catcher, B) Decline Hernandez option and sign a free agent as second catcher, C) Keep Ramon & Hanigan both

B - I'd save some $$$ by bringing in a veteran backup to Hanigan, giving Mesoraco more time in AAA.

2. 2B: A) Trade Brandon Phillips and use Valaika or B) Status Quo

B.

3. SS: A) Exercise Cabrera option to keep status quo, B) Make Janish the starter and find a backup from within the system, C) Use Cozart, Valaika or another existing guy the starter or D) Go out and find an everyday starting SS from outside the system

Definitely not A. B is acceptable but I still think Janish's bat is a little light. I could go for C if it's Cozart, I'm old-school on shortstop defense and I don't think Valaika has the chops. D is a perfectly good idea.

4. LF: A) Gomes, B) Heisey, C) Nix, D) Francisco, E) Dorn, F) Balentien, G) Alonso or H) Outside help

G if Alonso can play it, try H if he can't, otherwise a platoon of kids. Don't care to bring Gomes back.

5. Find a spot for: A) Francisco, B) Frazier, C) Valaika or D) Alonso

Frazier and Valaika would be a spiffy pair of infield reserves. Alonso, left field or traded. At this point, I think Francisco's primary worth is as trade bait.

6. Keep Cairo: A) Yes, B) No

B - Veteran surprises usually only last a year.

7. Exercise Arroyo option: A) Yes, B) No

Leaning B but I could accept A.

8. Trade a starter for help elsewhere? A) Yes, B) No

Probably B. We have depth, but there isn't much left in the high minors after everyone hit Cincinnati this year, so we'll need to stash someone in Louisville who doesn't necessarily deserve to be there. However, I could see an exercise-option-and-trade with Arroyo.

9. First odd man out for 2011: A) Bailey, B) Volquez, C) Leake, D) Wood, E) Chapman, F) Cueto

Could be Chapman as a lower-profile way to re-acclimate to starting, although I'm hoping his performance for the next several weeks makes him impossible to return to the minors. Otherwise, probably Leake or Wood due to having options left.

10. Second odd man out for 2011 if Arroyo is kept: A) Bailey, B) Volquez, C) Leake, D) Wood, E) Chapman, F) Cueto

Anyone else who has options left.

11. Keep riding the Rhodes train: A) Yes, B) No

B. He's been great but he's starting to get those nagging things 40-year-olds can't shake.

12. LHP reliever of choice: A) Bray, B) Herrera, C) S.O.S.!

C. Definitely an offseason area of need.

13. Least faith in: A) Fisher, B) J. Smith, C) Ondrusek

B.

14. Joey Votto long-term extension: A) 10 years or more, B) 5-9 years, C) 2-4 years, D) None yet, just arbitrate or 1-year deal

B/C -- long enough to buy out some free agency, not long enough to be a complete albatross contract should something happen.

15. Jay Bruce long-term extension: A) 10 years or more, B) 5-9 years, C) 2-4 years, D) None, just arbitrate or 1-year deal

D. He'll be more expensive to lock up later with a big season in 2011 but I don't want to pay him big money until I see a big season.

16. Cordero in 2011: A) Yes, B) No, but promote within if Cordero can be traded, C) Find a taker at all costs and sign or trade for a new closer

Reluctantly, A. If Rhodes is gone and Chapman's in the rotation, the bullpen coming back is pretty thin. I have severe doubts he could be traded on any terms other than "Reds pick up most of the contract," and if we're paying him several million regardless, he may as well pitch for us. He's not really worth it but that horse left the barn already.

17. Add Dorn to the 40-man, A) Yes or B) No

B.

18. Include Balentien in the 25-man mix, A) Yes or B) No

Probably B.

19. Trade Alonso: A) Yes or B) No

A if he can't play left field, B otherwise.

20. More fun than 2000-2009: A) Yes, B) Yes, C) Yes or D) Yes

1. C: A) Decline Hernandez option & add Mesoraco or Corky Miller as 2nd catcher, B) Decline Hernandez option and sign a free agent as second catcher, C) Keep Ramon & Hanigan both

I'll go with C here. Mes needs half a season at least at AAA IMO.

2. 2B: A) Trade Brandon Phillips and use Valaika or B) Status Quo

B. I see no decline in BP and no obvious replacement

3. SS: A) Exercise Cabrera option to keep status quo, B) Make Janish the starter and find a backup from within the system, C) Use Cozart, Valaika or another existing guy the starter or D) Go out and find an everyday starting SS from outside the system

B/C Janish to start the season. If he falters, Cozart should be his replacement.

4. LF: A) Gomes, B) Heisey, C) Nix, D) Francisco, E) Dorn, F) Balentien, G) Alonso or H) Outside help

I'll go with... F. Balentien has been a beast at AAA. I loves me some Danny Dorn, and am leading the Free Danny Dorn campaign, but Wlad might be better than Heisey.

5. Find a spot for: A) Francisco, B) Frazier, C) Valaika or D) Alonso

Find? on the Reds? no. Trade any of them? maybe.

6. Keep Cairo: A) Yes, B) No

B. He's replaceable.

7. Exercise Arroyo option: A) Yes, B) No

A. He's earned it, and he's a stopper.

8. Trade a starter for help elsewhere? A) Yes, B) No

A. Homer Bailey anyone?

9. First odd man out for 2011: A) Bailey, B) Volquez, C) Leake, D) Wood, E) Chapman, F) Cueto

Bailey, but expect a rough season from Volquez as he gets his feel for pitching back.

10. Second odd man out for 2011 if Arroyo is kept: A) Bailey, B) Volquez, C) Leake, D) Wood, E) Chapman, F) Cueto

C. Leake. Sorry, but he's average at best.

11. Keep riding the Rhodes train: A) Yes, B) No

A. I go one more year

12. LHP reliever of choice: A) Bray, B) Herrera, C) S.O.S.!

B. Used properly, DRH can really screw up a team. Imagine DRH following Chapman after he has pitched 6+ innings. woof!

13. Least faith in: A) Fisher, B) J. Smith, C) Ondrusek

A. Fisher seems like a lights out AAA pitcher to me.

14. Joey Votto long-term extension: A) 10 years or more, B) 5-9 years, C) 2-4 years, D) None yet, just arbitrate or 1-year deal

B. 10 or more is ridiculous. 8 years 120 mil.

15. Jay Bruce long-term extension: A) 10 years or more, B) 5-9 years, C) 2-4 years, D) None, just arbitrate or 1-year deal

D, or maybe C.

16. Cordero in 2011: A) Yes, B) No, but promote within if Cordero can be traded, C) Find a taker at all costs and sign or trade for a new closer

A. I'd move him if i could, but I doubt Jose Arredondo will be ready to take over before the ASB

17. Add Dorn to the 40-man, A) Yes or B) No

A. All Danny Dorn does is hit

18. Include Balentien in the 25-man mix, A) Yes or B) No

A. He's a top 10 Reds prospect right now.

19. Trade Alonso: A) Yes or B) No

A. And get a ransom of high end lower level prospects for him

20. More fun than 2000-2009: A) Yes, B) Yes, C) Yes or D) Yes

E. Hell yes.

Great thread.

1. C. Hernandez fits the team well, Mes + Grandal need time.
2. B. Only trade is for an ace, and no one will trade an ace for BP's contract.
3. B. Like OCab, but team needs some payflex. Perhaps he'll come back for less.
4. A/B/C. I like the combo. PT distribution should be more even.
5. None. It's a long season. Depth at AAA will be used.
6. B. Re-sign him if its for the minimum, otherwise look in-house.
7. A. Rotation needs a vet who doesn't get hurt or suspended.
8. B. Starting depth is necessary. Only trade to upgrade at starter.
9. E. Probably needs more time in AAA as a starter.
10. C. Tough call, but Leake is young and it could save wear. He'll start during the year.
11. A. Toughest call of the bunch. Would Rhodes decline arb if offered?
12. A. BB has had some good moments.
13. A. Not a bad group for the front end of the pen, though.
14. B. Depends in part on insurance.
15. B. Depends in part on insurance.
16. A/B. If there is a market, use it. If not, CoCocloser.
17. B. Valuable, but there's not that big a market for DD. Risk him for the 40 slot.
18. A. WB and DD both "in the mix" but off the 40 unless/until needed.
19. B. It always depends on the return. Definitely trade for an ace, but not otherwise.

I'll play:

1. A I'd like to give Hanigan the opportunity to play everyday, with Corky holding the backup spot until Mez is ready, hopefully by the ASB. Corky could then become a coach.
2. B I love Brandon Phillips, at least for one more year. Still not convinced Valaika can be above average 2B.
3. B Let Janish and Cozart battle it out in ST, with the loser winning the backup job.
4. B Heisey unless he's playing CF, in which case a platoon of Gomes and Francisco could be interesting.
5. A Francisco at worst could be a valuable LHPH with pop off the bench. Frazier should naturally find a spot with his versatility once he finds his stroke, and Alonso is trade bait.
6. B He had a great year, let someone else pay him. Frazier could take his spot (see above).
7. B Already too many youngsters for too few spots. Use the money to lock up Votto and Bruce.
8. B Where else do we need help that it's readily available? Unless Janish/Cozart bomb in ST and you can trade for Brignac.
9. E Wouldn't be surprised if Chapman stays in the 'pen. Hopefully he has more success than Joba Chamberlain.
10. A As much as I want to, I'm not sure if I'll ever trust Homer Bailey.
11. B Try to get Type A comp for him if you can (although I said that last year as well, oops!)
12. C Not sure if either of these guys is the answer, maybe we should hang onto Rhodes for one more year, oops!
13. A Love Ondrusek, like J.Smith.
14. B Love Votto, don't believe in 10 year deals
15. B See above, although I wouldn't cry if they gave Bruce 2-4. I don't want him going all Alex Rios, although I don't think he will.
16. B If they can get value for Cordero then Masset, Ondrusek or possibly even Chapman could fill nicely. Use the money towards locking up Votto and Bruce.
17. B I think Francisco makes him redundant as a lefty bat off the bench.
18. A Always liked Balentien, although not sure where another righty OF fits in after Gomes, Heisey and Stubbs.
19. A Yes, definitely. Trade him for a stud LF or a SS if Janish/Cozart falter in ST.
20. Oh yeah!

1. C: A) Decline Hernandez option & add Mesoraco or Corky Miller as 2nd catcher, B) Decline Hernandez option and sign a free agent as second catcher, C) Keep Ramon & Hanigan both

A - The Razor has had a nice year, but it is time to move on now.

2. 2B: A) Trade Brandon Phillips and use Valaika or B) Status Quo

B - Unless you get bowled over in an offer (which is unlikely), keep BP.

3. SS: A) Exercise Cabrera option to keep status quo, B) Make Janish the starter and find a backup from within the system, C) Use Cozart, Valaika or another existing guy the starter or D) Go out and find an everyday starting SS from outside the system

B - Janish has been a rather unsung part of the Reds recent streak; his glove gives the Reds a lockdown IF defense IMO. Cozart should be able to provide competent backup SS service.

4. LF: A) Gomes, B) Heisey, C) Nix, D) Francisco, E) Dorn, F) Balentien, G) Alonso or H) Outside help

Can I vote three times for C? Heisey all the way!

5. Find a spot for: A) Francisco, B) Frazier, C) Valaika or D) Alonso

I still think Frazier could be a supersub on this team. That's why I think B should be a reason why the team chooses...

6. Keep Cairo: A) Yes, B) No

B - but thanks for a great year, Miguel!

7. Exercise Arroyo option: A) Yes, B) No

A - I would have said B a month or two ago. It's less about my confidence in Bronson than it is about the lack of certainty for the other rotation candidates.

8. Trade a starter for help elsewhere? A) Yes, B) No

A - but only if it is a young SS. If not, then B.

9. First odd man out for 2011: A) Bailey, B) Volquez, C) Leake, D) Wood, E) Chapman, F) Cueto

Tough question. Gonna have to go with C.

10. Second odd man out for 2011 if Arroyo is kept: A) Bailey, B) Volquez, C) Leake, D) Wood, E) Chapman, F) Cueto

Some answers will be affected by questions prior or after them, so I'll assume the answer to all 20 are true. Good quetions:

1. C: A) Decline Hernandez option & add Mesoraco or Corky Miller as 2nd catcher, B) Decline Hernandez option and sign a free agent as second catcher, C) Keep Ramon & Hanigan both

C, let Mes develop another half to full season in AAA, together they're cheap next year and seem to work well with the current staff

2. 2B: A) Trade Brandon Phillips and use Valaika or B) Status Quo

A, unless you blow my socks off. Gold Glove defense w/ all-star caliber bats don't grow on trees and Brandon seems to have found the consistancy and better approach that we've all been waiting for

3. SS: A) Exercise Cabrera option to keep status quo, B) Make Janish the starter and find a backup from within the system, C) Use Cozart, Valaika or another existing guy the starter or D) Go out and find an everyday starting SS from outside the system

B, I'd like to use Valaika as the backup SS, 2b, 3b backup with cozart on speed dial should Janish get banged up and hope Valaika doesn't scare me too much on Sunday specials

4. LF: A) Gomes, B) Heisey, C) Nix, D) Francisco, E) Dorn, F) Balentien, G) Alonso or H) Outside help

H, use some of the savings at SS to go out and get a stud, 4th hole bat

5. Find a spot for: A) Francisco, B) Frazier, C) Valaika or D) Alonso

C, see above, but if Yonder could play LF (doesn't seem like they think he can, I wouldn't mind him as an option as the big LF bat)

6. Keep Cairo: A) Yes, B) No

B, thanks for the great year, but we'll go w/ cheaper options

7. Exercise Arroyo option: A) Yes, B) No

A, easiest answer for me

8. Trade a starter for help elsewhere? A) Yes, B) No

A, package a couple and go get Greinke

9. First odd man out for 2011: A) Bailey, B) Volquez, C) Leake, D) Wood, E) Chapman, F) Cueto

E, would like to see him transition back to starter in AAA at the start, then come up David Price style

10. Second odd man out for 2011 if Arroyo is kept: A) Bailey, B) Volquez, C) Leake, D) Wood, E) Chapman, F) Cueto

As I mentioned above, keep Arroyo and package a couple (or perhaps 1 and another prospect and go get Greinke

11. Keep riding the Rhodes train: A) Yes, B) No

Offer him arb, if he declines take the type A comp or if he accepts make sure you limit his innings a bit, but I like his presence in the Pen

12. LHP reliever of choice: A) Bray, B) Herrera, C) S.O.S.!

Bray, should be a little more consistant further away from TJS, I never need to see DRH again

13. Least faith in: A) Fisher, B) J. Smith, C) Ondrusek

B

14. Joey Votto long-term extension: A) 10 years or more, B) 5-9 years, C) 2-4 years, D) None yet, just arbitrate or 1-year deal

B, Use savings from some answers above and keep him around 5-6 more seasons, I doubt you coudl get a 10 year deal out of him

15. Jay Bruce long-term extension: A) 10 years or more, B) 5-9 years, C) 2-4 years, D) None, just arbitrate or 1-year deal

B, see answer above, but I don't think he's arbitration eligible yet, super 2 I think, so you can wait a season, just may be costly

16. Cordero in 2011: A) Yes, B) No, but promote within if Cordero can be traded, C) Find a taker at all costs and sign or trade for a new closer

A, he's costly, and you're likely going to have to cover some salary in any deal, so you might as well keep him 1 more season

17. Add Dorn to the 40-man, A) Yes or B) No

A

18. Include Balentien in the 25-man mix, A) Yes or B) No

B

19. Trade Alonso: A) Yes or B) No

A, I'd trade him to KC, but they don't need a 1b, so if you can't find a decent enough deal during the offseason, and you can't teach him to play LF on at least an Adam Dunn level at a minimum, then store him away in AAA for a deadline deal

20. More fun than 2000-2009: A) Yes, B) Yes, C) Yes or D) Yes

E, all of the above

Bonus answer, seems both Walt & Dusty like to have a vet on the bench, I'd approach Edmunds and see if I couldn't talk him into 1 more season as pinch hitter, once or twice a week starter and full time Bruce mentor off the bench w/ the condition that he rarely, if ever plays CF, but plays LF/RF on an occasional basis w/ Heisey as the backup CF
