I have no clue why this hasn't been posted yet, but Daddy Wags (Reds stat expert) has passed away. RIP.

I posted this in yesterday's game thread:

In addition to being one of the very best at his job, "Daddy Wags" was really a wonderful guy. Always had a smile on his face, always liked to see his friends laugh, always asking you about your family and kids.

Mark was a big man, and he needed to be in order to fit a heart as big as he had. He put people first.

I knew Mark for nearly 30 years, and will miss him very much. He loved the Reds, the Xavier Muskies and the LaSalle Lancers, not necessarily in that order!!

I loved being able to hear Mark laugh on air of the TV games, especially when Chris Welsh was giving Thom (who is a dear friend of Mark's) a hard time about something or other. That goodhearted guffawing you could just barely hear in the background was Mark Wagner.

RIP, Daddy Wags.

Curious. Was he on the trip west? I thought I heard him laughing in St. Louis on the TV boradcast.

They have to have a stat guy. Any word on why he left?

He wasn't fired, yet he did leave against his wishes. :cry:

RIP= rest in peace...

Was it a heart attack?

It's a drag to go at age 54 but he is to be envied for being able to make a living doing what we around here do in our free time. What a lucky guy to be paid for that. It does sound like he was good at what he did and quick too.
