Tulowitzki homered twice in Colorado's 9-2 victory over the struggling Cincinnati Reds (http://espn.go.com/mlb/team/_/name/cin/cincinnati-reds), but the Rockies lost Cook to a broken leg when Joey Votto (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?playerId=28670)'s comebacker got him in the sixth inning Wednesday.
However, manager Jim Tracy said Cook's season may not be finished just yet. He intimated there remains a chance the franchise's career leader in wins could be back on the mound.

I got hit in the shin with a ground ball in softball 7 weeks ago and I still have a welt, about as big as a ravioli, it was as large as tennis ball for a few days and still is sore in the shin area. If any of you have a baseball feel how hard it is, how small it can seem and think about how fast it can leave Votto's bat.

Cook should be glad it was just his leg.

Wow. I thought it caught more of the back half on his calf than the shin. That really stinks.

I've been hit on the shin by a line drive to the mound -- and the ball was a bit waterlogged. Fortunately, I got my foot off the ground before I got hit. Still, it's like somebody hitting you with a big rock from a short distance.

I've been HBP eight times and I remember every single one of them. I can't imagine taking a line drive to the leg off of Votto's bat. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Try taking a foul ball off the hand, wrist, chest, stomach, shoulder, face and numerous other body parts while standing directly behind the catcher.

You guys are sissies;)

I'll say this, Cook played it off really well. His non-reaction afterward made me think the fact they took him out of the game was only precautionary. Turns out his freakin' leg was broken.

If there's any silver lining to this, at least Dibble wasn't calling the game.

Ouch! I know Joey hits the ball pretty hard but I didn't realize it was that bad last night. Hope he heals up all right.

OMG! What a freaky thing. I bet Joey feels horrible.

I know balls get hit back to the pitcher all the time and they often get hit, but I never realized it could be quite this disastrous. I guess it depends on where and how hard he gets hit.

Get well soon, Mr. Cook. So sorry...

No doubt. Took a foul ball off my right shoulder three different times in a Legion game once. Was complaining about that, then to cap the night off, took one in the mask and it flew off and gave me a concussion. Rough night at the office.

I had one of those off my shin, the welt lasted over a year. Felt like my bone was bruised.

The absolute worst is a catcher getting mixed up on the signs and having an 80 MPH untouched fastball hit you anywhere on the body, including the mask. I am not to much of a tough guy to admit that flat out hurts.
