It is official the Reds are in a slump. I myself even find a general malaise slipping into my fandom. Therefore I have decided it is time to go slump busting. So I am going to be pulling out all the stops. Please add any important slump busters that you can come up with.

1. Change your Avatar to a Lightning Bolt. As a group we should all do this.

2. Look at this picture of Sarah Jessica Parker

3. Get into a bar fight, or watch this one.
YouTube - Dirty Work Pina Colada (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfMMq_pEhC4&feature=related)

4. Sing this song. Possibly while doing an all male dance review while in prison

At first I was afraid
I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live
without you by my side
But then I spent so many nights
thinking how you did me wrong
And I grew strong
And I learned how to get along
and so you're back
from outer space
I just walked in to find you here
with that sad look upon your face
I should have changed that stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I had known for just one second
you'd be back to bother me

Go on now go walk out the door
just turn around now
'cause you're not welcome anymore
weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
Did you think I'd crumble
Did you think I'd lay down and die
Oh no, not I
I will survive
oh as long as i know how to love
I know I'll stay alive
I've got all my life to live
I've got all my love to give
and I'll survive
I will survive (hey hey)

It took all the strength I had
not to fall apart
kept trying hard to mend
the pieces of my broken heart
and I spent oh so many nights
just feeling sorry for myself
I used to cry
But now I hold my head up high
and you see me
somebody new
I'm not that chained up little person
still in love with you
and so you felt like dropping in
and just expect me to be free
But now I'm saving all my loving
for someone who's loving me

Go on now go walk out the door
just turn around now
'cause you're not welcome anymore
weren't you the one who tried to break me with goodbye
Did you think I'd crumble
Did you think I'd lay down and die
Oh no, not I
I will survive
oh as long as i know how to love
I know I'll stay alive
I've got all my life to live
I've got all my love to give
and I'll survive
I will survive (oh)

Go on now go, walk out the door
just turn around now
'cause you're not welcome anymore
weren't you the one who tried to break me with goodbye
Did you think I'd crumble
Did you think I'd lay down and die
Oh no, not I
I will survive
oh as long as i know how to love
I know I'll stay alive
I've got all my life to live
I've got all my love to give
and I'll survive
I will survive
I will survive...!

5. Wear your lucky undergarments. Remember the flower goes in the front.

6. Sacrifice a bucket of KFC, or just look at this one.

7. Rub Schottzie or just look at a picture of her.

Accomplish all this and the slump will be over!

If I am missing anything please feel free to add it. We must all do our part!

I just started watching this show over the summer and this may be mad cheesy, but hey, it's a great song, appropriate for right now, and the kids are all wearing RED. :D

My fantasy team name is "Slump Busters" and I am about to win a title, does that count for anything?

The slump was broken the second the wheels of the plane left the ground in Colorado. ;)

Everyone in MLB thought that Card sweep of us was the nail in our coffin. Guess what? Didn't happen. We went into this Rockie series having won 15 of our last 21 games, and going from a game back of St. Louis in the NL Central to a 7 game lead. We went 30-16 since the All-Star Break, second best record in ALL OF MLB next to Minnesota (34-15).

To me, more then anything, that shows our mettle.

But when it comes to Coors Field - and I honestly felt going in that we wouldn't do well simply because historically we haven't - the place has not been kind to us....

The Reds had lost 15 of their last 18 games at Coors Field going in. That's now 19 of 22. The Rockies swept us last year in Coors Field. The Reds haven’t won a series in Colorado since they took 2 of 3 games in 2003.

We're out of there, and still 5 games up thanks to the help of the Brewers too, because it could have been worse.

The remaining schedule favors us, not the Cards. And here are some interesting tidbits on the Cards vs the Rockies, whom the Cards end the season with (4 games).....

Rockies won 6 of 7 from Cardinals last year, including a four-game sweep in St. Louis. They swept the Cards this past July. The Rockies are 79-74 all-time against St. Louis, fifth best record for Rockies against an opponent.

And if that doesn't perk your spirits up.....

Lohse is pitching for the Cards in the game tonight in Atlanta! :D

Ya'll are frettin' too much when you should be enjoying.

WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH, THE TOUGH GET GOING. SO C'MON! WHOSE WITH ME?

When I think of Slumpbusters, I think of Mark Grace's description on the Jim Rome show.

I think they empty the beverage cart on the way home, buckle up the stirrups and come out smashing the Pirates.

Pete's back! Let him have the closed door meeting!

So you're saying that the entire roster needs to have "relations" with Flo, the Progressive Insurance Lady.

That'd do the trick.

Won't matter. A lefty is going for Atlanta, which means the Cards score 2 or fewer runs.

You're right. But when I checked ESPN earlier this morning it listed Lohse. Lohse is Sunday.

I have to shoulder some of the blame for this losing streak. About a week ago, I changed my password on my work PC to something that includes a Reds reference. I changed it to eliminate that reference this morning.

I didn't see Mark Grace on the Jim Rome, but I am assuming he made reference to the "slump buster" baseball superstition of having relations with an ugly girl.

My wife has grown to accept a lot of baseball-isms in the past thirty years, but I doubt she will let me make this sacrifice for the team.

I hate to point this out, but the Redlegs haven't won since Daddy Wags passed away on Sunday morning.

Wags could give us some celestial assistance at this point!

if the Reds lose to the Pirates tonight, I'll do something drastic tomorrow. Long time RZ members might remember the last time I did this.
I will say nothing more until necessary.

Reds win, Carpenter loses to Atlanta, and we're back to 6 up.

Westbrook goes for the Cards today. He's 1-3 with 3 no decision since his acquisition and will be facing "hard luck' Hanson of the Braves.

Sunday it's Hudson for Atlanta vs Card's Lohse.

Lets widen that lead Reds!!!!
