Last nights performance moves Cordero to 9th, one better than Carpenter in ESPN's Cy predictor!

Let's track his movement up the list!

Just shows how little the four-letter network knows. On one hand they want to tell us that the Reds are frauds, but on the other they want to tell us "the most hated Red" is Cy Young material. I don't get it.

It's just the result of a simple math formula coupled with some questionable counting stats. How worthless are saves, and how deceptive are "vultured" wins?

That's hilarious. "Lies, damned lies, and statistics."

Cordero gets bonus points for blowing a save and the offense bailing him out in the bottom of the 9th.

Just the fact that he moved UP after last night's performance says all I need to know about the formula used in those rankings.

He's back to 10th place, but please note that he'd be in 7th were he in the AL.

Dang. I wonder where I am on the list. If CoCo can be top 10, then I should be somewhere in the top 25.

You know what would be awesome is if the Cards get shut out of the playoffs AND all 3 major awards.

C'mon, Buster Posey! Lead your team to the playoffs!

That would be great, I read an article a while back where a cardinal beat writer was speculating how cards will probably get the MVP, Cy Young, ROY, Manager of the Year, and the division and no team has ever done that before.

Now it appears they will get NONE OF THE ABOVE :laugh:

and they can snuggle up with their awards on the couch and watch the playoffs from the comfort of their own homes! :)

Look out Roy Halliday! On the strength of bonus points rewarded "for leading your team to the division championship" based on current standings, but most likely due to him staying on the pine the last few games, our hero climbs to #8!

Jeez, thanks for making me laugh! I didn't know this "formula" was out there. Goes to show you that not all baseball statistics are very well thought out. On the bright side, maybe Walt can persuade some ignorant GM to take on Cordero's contract in the off season with the line "well, our guy here finished 8th in the Cy Young formula on ESPN" or....maybe not :(

On the strength of Tuesday's "save", Tim Hudson's getting clobbered, and more inactivity, CoCo has vaulted to 7th in the Cy race! It may be tough for him to overtake Billy Wagner, seeing as how CoCo has given up more than 3 times the earned runs Billy has in a similar number of innings.

When you look at that list of players, the statement that comes to mind the most is, "Which of these players does not belong in this list?"
