Reds went 5-5, now are 84-66, home 45-30, road 39-36. Reds lead Cards by 6, one better than last time (again lead was up to 8 games). Reds run differential is plus 95. In loss column, Phils at 61; Braves 64; Reds, Giants, Padres 66; Rockies 67; Cards 71.

Bruce back in lineup, Edmonds back, Volquez in the rotation, Harang in the bullpen.

Reds have four series remaining, two with Brewers, one with Pads, one with Astros.

Offense - Reds with dips in OPS (.773), OBP (.338), and BA (.271). SLG (.435) stayed the same. Reds now tied with Rockies for league lead in OPS. Reds still lead league in SLG and BA. Reds lead Rockies in runs by 10 and lead in hits by 38.

Votto at .324 BA, .424 OBP, .594 SLG, 1.018 OPS (better than last time). Phillips, with hand injury, now has BA of .272 with OPS of .749. Gomes with 83 RBI. Stubbs at .250 BA with 19 homers and 70 RBI. Rolen at .292 with 19 homers and 80 RBI. Bruce with 21 homers.

Pitching - Improved team ERA now 4.06 (from 4.13 last time), currently 9th in NL. Big positive move in starting pitching from 4.17 to current 4.07, tenth in NL. Pen with slight improvement to 4.06.

Some rough outings for Cordero, now with 8 blown saves and 4.11 ERA. Chapman at 1-1 with 2.35 ERA, 11Ks in 7.2 innings. 3BBs. Arroyo came back strong now 16-10 with 3.98 ERA in 203.2 innings. Volquez now 3-3 with 4.99. His September stats are 0-1 with 1.98 ERA, 17 Ks and 3 BBs in 13.2 innings.

Fielding - Reds with five errors in series against Astros, now with 65 errors, second fewest in NL (Pads with 64), Reds with .988 FPCT. Reds team DER still fourth in NL, trails Giants, Dodgers, Pads.
