Now running .268/.387/.635/1.021 with 52 dingers and 118 RBIs. For good measure, a solid 106 Ks with 98 walks.

This is nuts. Even crazier than Brady Anderson's one night stand. At least Anderson had 160 career homers outside of his 1996 explosion. But Bautista had 57 homers in almost 2,000 prior plate appearances.

Just one of those things? Luck? Maturity? And further, odds of him falling off the face of the earth next year? lol

First off, this is not as crazy as Brady Anderson.... Anderson was a seasoned vet, Bautista is still trying to get his status. Anyway... some guy in the SunDeck was pimping Bautista all pre-season cause apparently he was juicing up...I will look for the original thread and link it.

I don't think Anderson's was crazier. Anderson was 32, Bautista is 30. So not a lot of age difference there, really.

Granted, Bautista had a bit better HR rate before this than Anderson did before his season, but Brady also at least had two separate full seasons over .800 OPS before his explosion. Bautista has never been over .750.

I would still say this one is nuttier.

I hope you can find the link though. I would definitely be interested in seeing that.

My mistake, it must have been somewhere else besides this board that some person was pimping Bautista before the year started. I couldn't find the thread.

I would say what makes this crazier than Anderson's year is that everyone is on the lookout now for PED's, so this one is probably legit.

My buddy is a Pirates fan. Just another reason to feel sorry for him.

I am just glad I picked him up in 2 of my fantasy leagues in late April off the wire. I am riding the wave!( or should I say waiver?)

Toronto's "swing for the fences" approach has done him well.

The guy simply screams "PEDs." I don't see how anyone can think otherwise, after all we learned about Sosa, McGwire, Bonds, Anderson, Luis Gonzalez, David Ortiz, etc.

Well if he is just standing there screaming "PEDS!" I think that's a good indicator right there.

Me too. He has to go down as one of the best undrafted pickup's ever.

I would put him up there with Papelbon (his rookie year) when he was a RP/SP.

;)

I think that would actually be *less* obvious than what he's doing now.
