Magic number is 2.....Reds win, Cards lose and it's all over. It could happen, but I have this feeling we're going to lose big today. Hope I'm wrong.

Regardless, this is starting to feel inevitable. I am getting excited.

If the Cards could lose twice in one day I would think so

All it takes is a combination of a Reds win and a Cards loss at this point.

Reds win, Cards lose today, we can pop open the champagne!

I'm just sarcastic with my lack of faith with the reds winning today. I'm ready to get this over with. If the braves keep slipping the first round could mean going out west. That wouldn't be too bad

may be the first and last time I'll ever say it, but: Go Cubs! I'm ready to get things clinched TODAY!

Cards = Jake Westbrook
Cubs = Jeff Samardzija (former ND Wide Receiver)

Samardzija did pitch 5 2/3 shutout innings against St. Louis in his last outing, but I don't see that happening again.

Reds = Homer Bailey
Padres = Richard Clayton (13-8)

Gonna be a tough one for the Reds. I'm sure Dusty is resting certain guys in a day game after a night game too.

Well---after that start to the Cubs/Cards game, probably not. Looks like we'll be clinching tomorrow or Tuesday.

Cards up 3-0 in the first with no one out :(

well huh. the Cubs are making things interesting, aren't they?

Not today...Cards win 8-7. Magic number still at 2 for now.

Cardinal's website has the headline "Cardinals Fend Off Cubs, Keep Hopes Alive" (or something like that).

That's a reach.
