Given the Yankees HUGE pitching issue, how do you see them so high? With the Giants incredible pitching over the past month or so how do you have them so low?

Why so high on the Yanks?

Maybe because they have won 94 games?

Rays have won 94 and won the season series from teh Yanks, the Phils have 95 wins and the Giants are just 3 behind with 91 wins....

Why so high on the Yanks?

Maybe because they're the defending champions and return almost all of their players from last year, along with a few key additions.

This based on how well I think they will do in the postseason, so clearly teams with a strong top of the rotation and killer bullpen get an edge. I would rank SF and SD higher if they had any offense. And I should rank the Reds lower, but... you know...

Phillies
Rangers

Reds
Yankees

They have no starting pitching outside of CC, Jeter is a year older and slower, Mariono has been hittable of late and thus I am not seeing them as the TTB.

NYY's pitching is not as good as Philly's, but they still have some good ones and the best post-season closer in the history of the game.

I was very conflicted about SFO. Great freaking rotation, just no playoff experience for any of them except Zito, who probably won't even get a start. Still, I would not be the least bit shocked if they emerged to represent the NL in the Series.

I actually think the playoffs are pretty wide open. It wouldn't surprise me to see any of the 8 teams make it to the World Series.

Hard to believe SD is probably going to miss the playoffs. I never would have believed that 2 months ago.

Well at least they still control their own future....sweep the Giants and they are in.

Before even looking at any responses, I had my list the same except 7/8 reversed.

Completely agree. A complete reversal from last year, when it was pretty clear it was going to be a NY-Phil World Series.

I could see any combination of any of the 8 teams making it this year.
