Trailing 2-1 heading into the ninth inning, the Reds rallied for two runs for a come-from-behind win to even the best-of-seven Series at 1-1. Johhny Bench led off the ninth with a double to RF off Bill Lee. Red Sox manager Darrell Johnson went to his bullpen, calling upon righthander Dick Drago. Tony Perez grounded out to SS, advancing Bench to third. George Foster then flied out to LF, but it was too shallow for Bench to try to score, so the Reds were down to their final out. But Dave Concepcion delivered with an infield single, scoring Bench and tying the game at 2-2. After Concepcion stole second base, Ken Griffey doubled to score Davey with the go-ahead run.
