I honestly like both teams and believe it should be a great match up, no matter who wins.

I like the Rangers offense better than the Giants but I like the Giants pitching better than the Rangers.

I'd like to see Texas win because of Josh Hamilton and the fact that they have never won a championship before.

Then again I'd like to see the Giants win because I'm old and set in my ways of always rooting for the club that represents the National League.

If I had to bet, my money would be on the Giants.

What does everyone else think?

I think the Rangers win it.

For the record, NY over Minn. is the only series I've picked right the postseason.

Definitely rooting for the Giants. The New York Giants were my Dad's favorite team and I always root for the NL team no matter what.

I think the Giants will win. Their pitching is much deeper in both the rotation and the pen, and I have a feeling that Lee is due for a bad start. Plus they seemed to be riding a wave right now.

Lincecum, Cain, Sanchez and Bumgarner > Lee, Wilson, Lewis and Hunter. In SF, the Rangers lose one of their offensive guys with Vlad sitting out or one of the other OF. In Texas, the Giants get to add a bat. The Giants have a better pen as well. I'll take SF.

Rosters have been finalized. Giants made no changes, Rangers dropped lefty reliever Clay Rapada, and replaced him with righty Mark Lowe.

Also the Giants lineup, I'll have the Rangers as soon as I get it:

Torres 8
Sanchez 4
Posey 2
Burrell 7
Ross 9
Huff 3
Uribe 5
Renteria 6
Lincecum 1

Posey, Burrell, & Ross all move up one, while Huff drops 3 to 6th. They stick with Uribe at 3rd and Renteria at short, while Sandoval sits.

People are ripping Vlad to shreds on twitter.... I didn't get to watch... Can someone summarize please?

Thanks.

He made two bad errors in the field in the same inning. He basically had one ball go totally past him for a 2 base error on what should have been just a routine single to right. Then later the same inning on another hit to right he bobbled the ball a few times just trying to pick it up which was the 2nd error. The Rangers want him in the lineup for his bat but it is going to be rough him playing OF in the NL park when he usually is just a DH.

In reality I think is more of a NL/AL thing. Vlad is such an important part of the Rangers lineup that it is very difficult to remove him from the order. As for Sandoval its not like he was much of an offensive force this year at 3b. I think they went somewhat defensive but overall played their best overall team.

I would doubt Vlad will be out there in RF tonight, but stranger things have happened.

Vlad vs. RHP in '10-.287/.328/.482, David Murphy vs. RHP in '10-.298/.368/.479. It's not as if the Giants had chosen to start a lefty there, or they only had Frenchy and Borbon, or Cruz wasn't already a better choice to hit clean-up.

Another blown call by an umpire, as a doubleplay was just turned by Texas, except the first base ump didn't see it. I wish we had instant replay review in MLB. Perhaps the only way we wil get it is for a blown call to decide the Series, but even then it probably won't matter to Bud Selig.

I'm more tired about the talk about blown calls than I am of the blown calls themselves.

Frankly, I don't think there's any more blown calls than there have ever been. Given the 50/50 nature of calls out on the field, and the impossible nature of being able to see every angle of a base, the calls are probably made proportionately to what should be expected. The only difference is that now we have replay and 5 different angles of a play--far more than the umpires have the advantage of--to talk about how the play was blown.

Of course, if this sounds like a reason we should have instant replay available to the umpiring crews or an administrator at each game, I'm on board.

(Dislcaimer: any representations I make of umpiring in general shall not apply to C.B. Bucknor. I make no warranties regarding the quality of umpiring by Bucknor, and apply no logic or reasoning to his performance other than sheer suck. The mediocrity of Bucknor shall not--could not--be reproduced, transmitted or distributed without the sole consent, and is property of, Bucknor himself.)

If Don Meredith was announcing this World Series, after last night's Giants win he would be singing "Turn out the lights, the party's over....". It wouldn't surprise me if the Rangers win tonight behind Cliff Lee but it would shock me for the Rangers to win three straight.

Classic pitchers duel tonight between Lincecum and Lee.

Through 5:

Lincecum has allowed 1 hit and 1 walk and struck out 6.
Lee has allowed 2 hits, no walks and struck out 4.

I just looked this up to confirm what McCarver and Buck just said, Aubrey Huff did indeed just lay down the first bunt of his career. Did a great job. You'd have thought he was Brett Butler.

3-0 Giants on a Renteria homer. That is a huge lead with the way Lincecum is pitching.

If the Giants hold on to win, I know a couple of Braves fans I can't wait to talk to tomorrow.

Andrus & Feliz for 450 ABs by Mark Teixeira?

Or

Edgar Renteria for Jair Jurrjens?

I so wish that the Reds had acquired Cliff Lee so he could lose two world series games. ;)

Renteria should have retired right after he crossed home plate.

So if the Giants go on to win tonight, who are we looking at for MVP? Renteria has had some timely hits.

Congrats to the Giants! While I was rooting for the Rangers, there were worse teams that could've won (see: Yankees, Phillies)

Also, anyone think FOX went total ridiculous showing every player's initial reaction after strike three?

This will only give the Giants more fuel in their drive to get the A's to leave the bay area.

I don't think the Giants really care if the A's are there or not.

I moved to the bay area in 1982, Joe Morgan ruined the Dodgers that year and I found that as a NL fan I would have to listen to the Giants feed, not the A's if I wanted to hear about the Reds. I listened to a LOT of Giants baseball for 20 years before I moved to the Portland area, once I moved here I noticed a good portion of older fans who followed the Giants, they even used to have a delayed feed of the games.

In short they are a big part of my baseball life, and that's not even touching on the fact that Giants catcher Wes Westrum lived on my dads street in Poughkeepsie in 1951.

So congrats to the Giants fans, 4 WS in 52 years is the pits, the town will party tonight.

And it's a good party town.

If so they wouldn't be throwing a stink about them moving to San Jose.

Congrats to the Giants by the way, nice to a nice baseball stadium team get a title.

Amazing season for the Giants. Great fans, great city.

So can Lincecum claim the thrown of best pitcher in baseball? This year he can, even if he doesn't get the Cy Young for the third time.

Yeah, but that's always been the Giants territory, why should they cede it?

And you're right about the stadium, it's a great place.

Congrats to the Giants and their fans. Especially the long-timers like my father-in-law who grew up watching Mays in the Polo Grounds.

Now please, find a barber shop. It's time for the facial pelts to go.

No. It is Halladay right now.

And I'll edit to remove some curtness...Lincecum is up there. But Roy is the best.

I was thinking that the '10 Giants might have one of the worst (at least by reputation) everyday starting lineups to win the WS in recent years. Went looking for some statistical backup for that.

Surprising results -- 6 of the last 10 WS Champs have had OPS+ of less than 100.

I tend to agree, but has anyone ever seen pitching so dominant as the Phillie against our Reds and The Giants against Texas in those series? Only the first game of the WS was a free-for-all. I knew when the Giants beat up on us late in the season they had the look of a team who could go all the way.

And if Roy is No.1, Lincecum must be No. 2.

Congrats to the San Francisco Giants and their fans.

I thought the Giant pitching staff had what it takes but I had my doubts about the Giants offense, my goodness they sure beat some pretty good pitchers on their way to a well deserved World Championship. :beerme:

I don't knowww...Timmy has Roy's Game 1 scalp, and the ring right now, he's got some claims!

That said, I hope he rests up that arm this off season, I think he's been battling some tweaks this year for the first time.

Not looking to defend Lincecum tooth and nail, but I think history is beginning to favor him.

Yeah, they took them all down, for sure. No blemishes on this title. You know, of all the teams, I thought they stayed the most composed, too. The Reds, Phils, and Braves all looked shaky on defense especially. Some pretty bad baseball actually.
