I figured we could use this thread for things that need to be explained to Chris Carpenter's son. First, I'll throw in some stats since we're mostly a SABR-friendly crowd.
Since August 14th, 2010, I have counted 39 different threads with references to 'How will Chris Carpenter explain this to his son?'

Breakdown by month:
08/2010 - 6
09/2010 - 12
10/2010 - 2
11/2010 - 3
12/2010 - 9
01/2011 - 7

The longest it took for the reference to pop up was on August 31st, when CarolinaRedleg asked the question in the 739th post of a thread. On the other side, Brutus the Pimp asked the question with the second post in a thread on January 9th. On average, it's the 60th post in a thread in which Carpenter needs to explain something to his son.

Vottomatic is currently in the lead for bringing up Chris Carpenter and his son with five mentions. Second place goes to CarolinaRedleg at four times, and third place belongs to Chip R, who has done it thrice.

Okay, now back to my motivation for starting this thread. What do we, as members of RedsZone, feel Chris Carpenter's son needs to have explained to him? I'll start . . .
There is a decent chance that Pujols won't be around next year, which would make the Cardinals irrelevant in the race for the NL Central in 2012 and beyond.

This thread is going to be legend-...... wait for it....

DARY. LEGENDARY.

Have I really only said it once, I may have to double check my posts on that, because I feel like it has been more. Not to question your work, of course, golf shirt.

Well, I only entered 'carpenter explain son' in the search field. There are probably other examples, so if you find one, please post it.

Considering I typo'd it, and the fact that it's a horrible sentence, I probably shouldn't link to this post, but I did here as well.

Someone should tell his son that Carpenter won The Sporting News' Comeback Player of the Year Award twice. You know what that means? Carpenter has had at least two bad years as a professional baseball player, and that's not including the year he led the AL in earned runs allowed.

You know I pretty much avoided this phrase because I thought it was kinda dumb and over played.

However, if we're really going to over do it and go nuts with it, then I can get on board with that. So....

How's Chris gonna explain to his son why he's doing this next October:

What was the origin of this? I am sure Carpenter made some comment about explaining something to his kid.. but what was it?

I bet even when his son is 30 Chris Carpenter will still have problems explaining rudimentary things to him.

If this thread is any indication, Carp has a very inquisitive offspring.

He has a seven-year old son named Sam. The real question is, how will he explain to him how he's the object (or at least an accessory) of so many jokes? ;)

I'm not sure how Chris Carpenter explains anything to his son but, I'd bet that it goes alot like
this.

I don't know how Chris Carpenter will explain anything to his son.

I know that I don't wanna hear him try. I doubt his son wants to hear it either.

I think Chris Carpenter's son was Ricky Ricardo in a past life.
