After reading redsof72's report on Carlos Ramos, I gotta go with him here.

Still going with Josh Ravin here.

You know what, I think I'll switch, at least temporarily, from Mace Thurman and do the same. Not just on the scouting report, but also on the basis that Ramos has evidently separated himself from what I thought was a very interesting class of young Latin pitchers in the system. I've been keeping an eye on guys like Luis Gonzalez and Abel de los Santos, but the word seems to be that Ramos is, by far, the one to watch in that group. OK then.

Well that is probably because you were only looking at the stats of those guys, and especially at the lowest levels, stats can be very misleading in terms of "most talented".

No doubt. That said, the numbers also pointed to Ramos (0.55 ERA in the DSL). And they called attention to Torreyes, putting some Redszoners on the leading edge of his bandwagon, which now accommodates all sorts of folks.

I had been picking Ramos for the past few rounds just to keep him on the ballot, but now that he's picking up steam, I'm going to start voting for the player who I actually want: Mark Serrano. Imagine if Jordan Smith had a strikeout pitch; that's how I view Serrano.

Just so we all know, DSL and VSL stats have shown to have almost no correlation to future success in the US.

Ramos has a good arm. Some of us have known that for a while now. I still don't see any reason he should be higher than a few guys on the board though. I can't find a real reason to rate him higher than Josh Ravin, who also has a very good arm, has thrown in the US and we know has a good second pitch to go along with his fastball.

After reading the Dragon's 3rd base preview, what are the general thoughts on David Vidal? Seems like he put together a pretty solid short season in the AZL last year, after getting drafted in the 8th round.

Vidal is a very good hitter, but he doesn't have a big frame and isn't very athletic. He's somewhat of a low ceiling guy. He reminds me a little bit of Chris Valaika as a corner infielder but with better plate discipline.

Thanks Cam. Sounds like a guy that fits into this portion of the rankings. Perhaps not ahead of anyone listed, I'm to the point where I couldn't seperate one from the other other than going on other's opinion's. I'll take a Valakia clone in the 8th round every time.
