We're not suggesting you part ways with your pooch right now, but if you don't have a dog yet or are considering a second pet... a goldfish is equal to the impact of just two cell phones; two hamsters or four canaries can be compared to a plasma TV.

Frankly, if your goldfish is taking up as much resources as two cell phones, you're feeding him too much.

Dogs are worse for the environment then SUVs, and cost the earth more than a Toyota Land Cruiser? All I know is that a Toyota LC costs humans around 68 grand!

I bet this study was funded by cats. :mooner:

I'm all for saving the environment, but if anyone thinks a study like this would make me change my mind about a dog they are crazy, and probably bad for the environment themself.

Hopefully, this was a government funded research project. I'd say about 40 million should have done it.

We make all our dog's food. It can be a pain and it's expensive because he eats so much meat, and it takes a lot of freezer space and plastic containers, but it's also fun to cook for someone who doesn't mind a bit if it's not medium rare, that there's no salt in it, if the gravy's thin, every meal is always the best meal they ever had. You picky people can all just cook for yourselves.

This was proven incorrect a few years ago. The math used here wasn't suspect, it was outright faulty.

I was gonna suggest then feed them to the dogs, but the flatulence would probably be even more harmful to the environment.

One thing they can do is simply eat less meat themselves to offset whatever their animals are using. If they are American this will seem like an unthinkable response.
