Great start to the Season Travis.

Can we say, "20-Win Season for Travis Wood?"

I think we can say 18, and leading the team in Wins.

He has a natural ability to go late into games because of his efficiency. That always gives a pitcher a chance to earn more wins when you can complete the 7th inning on a consistent basis.

18 Wins is not a pipe-dream for Wood this year.

Until proven otherwise, he's the ACE of this staff, and has been the ACE of this staff since he came up in July of last year.

I think that it's AWESOME that we have 2 potential 18 game winners on the staff this year, the other being Bronson. Ever since I've started watching the Reds, I've never been so excited for a season because of pitching!

I really really like Wood and I think he'll have a solid season. The reason I'm not so sure about him leading the team in wins is because I'm not sure if he has the stamina to do so. I would love to be wrong though.

Bronson you know will almost always keep you in the game and give you 7 innings and with our offense, that's gonna be a lot of wins.

Got 3 wins to start the season, great job to all! Every World Series we won we swept the opening 3 game series of the season.

Well training with fellow Arkansas native Cliff Lee did not hurt him either.

Mike Leake knows there's a ticket with his name on it to Louisville, and that if he doesn't pitch incredibly well over the next 3-4 starts, then he'll be handed that ticket.

Here's to Leake pitching his heart out on Tuesday! :beerme:

Are there a lot of people who think this? Wood did pitch 205 innings last year (including playoffs). I'm not worried about his stamina, but, the fact that that is about 40 innings more than his previous season high.

205? Wow, didn't know that. That certainly puts him on pace for a full season's load on par with any starter this year.

In response to the thread title, it's true. I was absolutely unsurprised at the performances all around, with Volquez struggling but pulling through, Wood dominating, and Arroyo solid except for a few HRs given up. If either Volquez or Bailey can figure something out, our pitching staff will be one of the best in the division.
