Okay we now head west for the first time playing the two low end teams out west. Playing on the road is never easy, playing out west is even rougher, so what kind of record should we expect on this road trip?

We should expect a 4-2 record. The Reds are clearly better than both of the teams they are about to play.

4-2, won't be upset with 3-3 though. 9-3 or 8-4 would be great.

I wouldn't call Padres low end they are pretty decent. Think we sweep D-backs and take 2 of 3 from the Padres.

5-1

3-3 or 4-2. West coast trips are always hard. Anything better than that is gravy.

Gotta go 4-2 at least. Neither Arizona or San Diego is all that strong and right now I like the matchups we have with their probable pitchers. But we all know in recent years the Reds haven't exactly set the world on fire when playing out west.

3-3, and I'll take it.

I will be very pleased with a 4-2 record. There is a winning attitudein the clubhouse and I think they all know that their west coast trips will only help them keep their heads up and bats hopefully.

I wouldn't call the Padres awful because their pitching is always good, I just don't see where they're going to get the runs to keep up with the Reds.

Think we should do better, but will be "satisfied" with a split; anything else is gravy, anything worse is dissapointing.

Pretty much agree with that. If you win half (40-41) your road games and 2/3 (52-29) of your home games you win 92 games and that's a pretty good season. Of course, we can always hope for better.

Yes they do. Even the good teams of the '90's sucked in LA, SF, and SD.

I would take 3-3.

I agree with you on the 4-2 mark... we should sweep ARI but think SD could be a bit tougher.

A lot of times the reds have gotten off to decent starts and had their season pretty much collapse out west.

The precident has been set. The Reds will win five of every 6 all year!

Any time they go out west, I'm thrilled with an over .500 record. I wouldn't be too upset with 3-3, and happy with anything better than that.

4-2. They should win both series. San Diego is not the same team as least year and the Reds are a complete team this year.

It cost Tony Perez his job as manager of the Reds...

I'm going to go with 5-1... I think the Padres will probably take one of the games, most likely game two or three. With Volquez scheduled in game one, they could easily win that one... considering how hes been throwing!

I'd say the over/under is about 3.5 wins. 3 or 4 wins would be decent and expected. Anything higher or lower that would be a surprise, either pleasant or unpleasant.

There is a reason why all teams struggle on the west coast. The effect of playing later at night than usual is harder to deal with than the reverse. When you go west and the time changes it is like playing the game late at night to your biological clock . It is easier to adjust to when you go from west to east because it is just like starting at 5:30 in the afternoon, as opposed to starting at 9:30 at night when you go from east to west. This is also why teams often do better as a western road trip goes on, because after a few days they adjust to the time change.

Meh I think last nights game had more to do with Kennedy's pitching and less with the time change. Hopefully the Reds offense get rolling early tonight.

3-3 is acceptable.

I'm a firm believer in taking 2/3 at home each time (though I know that results in an unrealistic win percentage that probably isn't possibly over the long haul), and just "surviving" on the road. And by surviving, I mean roughly around a .500 record, perhaps a few games over.

After watching last nights showing... ill be happy with 2-4 haha

I know they'll get it together, i just thought they'd sweep in ARI and face a tougher challenge at SD... looks like they'll just have to step up their game in order to get to the 4-2 mark I predicted prior to last night.
