Bakersfield has jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead. Henry Rodriguez and Brodie Greene have each driven in two, while JC Sulbaran has allowed two hits and three walks through four.

Ken Griffey has a short leash. Sulbaran gave up a run and two base runners remain here in the 5th, and he's already yanked. No win for JC. Clayton Shunick coming in.

Shunick allowed one runner to score before getting out of the 5th. He walked the first two in the 6th and then got out of the jam without allowing a run. Bakersfield leads Inland Empire 5-2, middle 6th.

Bakersfield went down 1-2-3 in the 6th.

Shunick gets the first out, Mace Thurman the next two, and it's 5-2 Bakersfield at stretch time.

Andrew Means (who apparently goes by AJ now) singles, goes first to third on an errant pickoff throw, then scores on a wild pitch. 6-2 Bakersfield.

Yasmani Grandal crushes one to make it 7-2. Announcer makes it sound like a no doubter the second it left his bat. Henry Rodriguez flies out to end the inning, 7-2 after 7.

Danny Serafini

Thurman gets an easy 1-2-3 8th. That's 5 up, 5 down for him.

Campbell, LaMarre and Greene all single to load the bases in the 8th. Mark Fluery then draws the bases loaded walk, 8-2.

Carlos Mendez grounds into a DP, but a run scores and it's 9-2. Means pops out to end the 8th.

Douglas Salinas gives up a leadoff single. He then gets a K and a 4-6-3 DP...and this one belongs to the Blaze! It's the first home win of the year for Bakersfield, who started on a 7 game road trip, and they improve to 5-4 on the season.

Inland Empire 2 6 1
Bakersfield 9 9 1
