Might not mean much, but I find it interesting that Fred Lewis is leading off tonight in his first rehab game with Louisville. Because he wasn't leading off in spring training, which I found odd. Sappelt is hitting third.

Dorn hit a 2-run shot in the second to put the Bats up 2-0 behind Dontrelle.

Two more weeks of Gomes batting less than his weight and we should be seeing either Lewis or Sappelt leading off for the Reds.

Is Dorn the next Nelson Cruz or Roberto Petageine? Discuss.

Yasmani Grandal is 0-for-0 with two walks. He's now got 12 walks in 60 plate appearances this season. I love his plate discipline.

Two walks for Grandal, two walks for Means, two walks for Campbell. Bakersfield tied it at 3-3 but Curtis Partch is having a tough time and the Blaze now trail 6-3.

I think we may have a bit of Todd Frazier syndrome going on here with Grandal. Seasoned college player starting out at a level below where he should probably be and tearing up the league. Throw in the park and you get these crazy stats. Frazier with the 1.000 plus OPS at Dayton set the expectations higher than they should have been and it looks like the same thing is happening with Grandal. When Frazier moved up, his OPS normalized to the low 800s and he's hovered at slightly above or below that level since. Grandal should be in AA and I think we'd see his real potential. Right now the numbers are fooling people and we're hearing things like suggesting he move to 1B and other talk. Once he moves to the proper comeptition level, his numbers will show him as a better than average offensive catcher, but not the game changing stick that he appears to be and probably not enough bat for 1B or LF like many are suggesting.

Agree. Grandal's got a lot to prove with the bat before he even enters the conversation as a viable first base IMO.

From Kevin Goldstein:

Yasmani Grandal, C, Reds (High-A Bakersfield): 0-for-0, 5 BB. Your weird line of the day; has drawn 15 walks in last nine games and sports a cool .500 on-base percentage

•Dontrelle Willis, LHP, Reds (Triple-A Louisville): 7 IP, 6 H, 3 R (2 ER), 2 BB, 4 K. Now 4-for-4 in good starts, could carve out a specialist role, as lefties are batting .121 (4-for-33) against him.
