Why did Sappelt get pulled after 1 AB?
Don't know about Sappelt. And don't know what got into Zack Cozart tonight: 5 for 5 with four doubles and a HR. Bats won 10-1. Bailey went 6.1.

Cozart set a club record with 4 doubles.
I haven't heard why Sappelt was pulled.
Another excellent start for Daniel Corcino: 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K. And another excellent relief outing for Pat Doyle: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 3 K. Dayton leads 1-0 after eight.
Carolina has come from 5-0 down to lead 7-6 after eight. Cody Puckett has all six RBIs with a 2B and HR.
Edit: I guess that doesn't sound right, does it? There have only been six RBIs, and Puckett has them all. The other run scored on a wild pitch.

Carolina's up 7-6 going to the bottom of the ninth. Cody Puckett is 3 for 4 with a walk, double, and homer, and 6 RBI's.
Dayton adds a run on a 3B by Yorman, his second hit . . . And now it's a final, 2-0, as Blaine Howell pitches a perfect ninth with two strikeouts. The amazing Dragons have now won 12 of their last 13.
Christiani nails it down for Carolina, 7-6 . . . Glad they rewarded Muddie for making the drive to Tennessee.

They did indeed mace. We sat first row behind the Mudcats dugout. Started out like all the others but Puckett was huge. It was so awesome to see the bullpen come through. DJ was good and Christiani was good also. Really glad for the guys. It would be really nice if they would try to build on this.
Avery goes tomorrow and we'll be here for that one as well.

Looking forward to seeing them play here in the Quad Cities in July
Stephen Hunt has doubled in two runs for Bakersfield. He's playing in his ninth game and now has 18 RBIs. Remarkable. Plus, he's been hitting in the lower half of the lineup. Tonight, though, he has been moved up to fifth.
It's tied 3-3 after four.
Bakersfield tied 3-3 in the 5th.
Going for the final piece of a system-wide victory.
Chase Weems is playing in his 4th game for Bakersfield. He has a HR tonight.
Stockton takes a 4-3 lead in the 6th.
Tied up in the top of the 8th (Grandal HR)
4-4

That's a way to break a slump Cozart. He got drilled in the head in a collision with Negron around the 4th or 5th inning too and was down for a few minutes. Evidently he recovered ok.

Bakersfield lost to Stockton 6-4
Yasmani Grandal went 1-3 with 2 walks and 1 HR (#6 on the year.) His batting average for the year now stands at .290. The aforementioned Stephen Hunt lowered his batting average to .514 for the year after going 2-4 last night with 2 rbi.

Bailey's next start has to be for Cincinnati.
Word is that Bailey's next start will be for Dayton. He will pitch for Cincy in Houston.

From the DDN:
STREAKS AND STRUGGLES: Yorman Rodriguez extended his hitting streak to nine games with a sharp single to right leading off the fourth inning. He was robbed of extra bases in the sixth when Oscar Garcia chased down his drive to deep center, gloving it on a lunge before slamming into the wall.
Rodriguez’s two-out triple in the eighth scored Sierra, who walked, to make it 2-0.
“Yorman has that knack of driving in that big run,” DeShields said.

That was a viscous collision there between Negron & Cozart. Were either of them injured?
No, both were fine although Cozart stayed down for a bit.
