Just a few reasons why it's a great time to be a Reds fan.

If the Reds were the Cubs:

--Edinson Volquez would be known as "Big V". And be making, like, 18 million dollars. For the next 3-4 years. With a full no-trade clause.

--Joey "MVP" Votto (.357/.492/.602) would be
Carlos "LOL" Pena (.157/.286/.171).

--Fred Lewis would be Japanese and making 14 mil. With a full no-trade clause.

--Bronson Arroyo would have red hair, an ERA of 9.58, and a 14 million dollar player option for next season.

--Jonny Gomes would be doing an irritating little hopscotch thingie every time he catches a routine fly, AND making 18 million a year through the 2014 season. Oh, and with a (say it with me now) full no-trade clause.

There's more, but that's plenty. The point is, the Reds really don't have any big bad albatross contracts right now, and it's pretty sweet.

I'm not gonna give up after 29 games
We have spent the 1st month with 2 of of our 5 best starters out
Rolen has been a non factor
We are only a couple games out
Relax, there are 133 games after tonight

If the Reds were the Cubs, they'd have delusional idiots telling the world that this year is different from the previous 103, and providing examples of guys that are due for breakout seasons. Like Jeff Baker. There's a guy you can win a division with there.

These contracts really make you wonder what the Cubs front office was thinking when they drew them up. There are very few players in the league that deserve contracts of this caliber.

If the Reds were the Cubs they would have still got to be on ESPN during their stretch of losing years.

My only "Cubs envy" is their fanbase. They sure do travel and support the heck out of that team, despite year after year after year of heartbreak and disappointment.
