Mudcats news, again...

OF Denis Phipps has been placed on the seven-day disabled list with an injured finger, while OF Kyle Day has been reinstated to the Mudcats' roster from Billings.

Not happy about the injured finger but I'd much rather Day be on the field than Phipps.

The pain is over in Rochester. The silver lining is that Frazier went 3 for 4.

Dayton wins 4-2. Corcino went 5.2 scoreless. Sharky Rogers and Blaine Howell gave up a run apiece. Everybody in the lineup had a hit, and Hamilton two, with a double. Vidal, who has been looking good, homered.

Hunt is out of the lineup again for Bakersfield. It's a lefthander pitching for Visalia, so maybe he sits against lefties.

Villarreal has been excellent through five, and it's 1-1 in the sixth. LaMarre is 3 for 3.

Are minor league pitchers never allowed to go 7 innings? Can they? You don;t develop them to go deep in games now, they never will.

Some teams have tighter restrictions than others. I'm not sure on the Reds' though.

Yes, they can. LeCure had a no-hitter broken up in the 8th last year. He went on for the complete 9 inning game.

Thanks..... I realize it's more the pitch count issue, which i assume is probably 100 pitches.

It isn't that high until AA/AAA. Most guys are around 80-85 in the lower minors. It clearly depends on the pitcher (and more importantly their age), but as the guys get older, they tend to get more leeway.
