We keep hearing Dusty talking about matchups and such and how it's important and how he manages to matchups and such. Okay if that is true then why is Jay Bruce in the lineup today? Bruce is HORRIBLE against the Astros starting pitcher, so why not go with Heisey in RF today? I mean if you are looking at matchups, are you saying that even though Jay can't hit this guy it won't hurt that team that much because he is batting 7th? Again our manager makes no sense...

Probably because Bruce is on a hot streak right now, hitting homers in 3 of the last 6 games.

Bruce is one of the best players on this team, you don't sit him against anyone when he's hot like he is.

No, no, you're right; I'll get Dusty on the horn right now and let him know

So if he is 'so' hot, why is he hitting 7th?

Another way to view it: Why self-extinguish someone who's "hot?"

By forcing Bruce out there, the Reds are more or less cooling him off.

I don't understand the logic at all. It's not like Heisey is a stiff. The guy can hit. Makes no sense at all that he's been limited to so few ABs with Gomes on the interstate and Bruce against tougher LHP.
