Harper goes to eye doctor. Doctor tells him his vision is terrible. Gets contacts, starts raking.

Just WOW.

You guys think Harper will have a better MLB career than Strasburg once it's all said and done? I for one think so. History has proven time and time again that young, flamethrowing pitchers tend to have a higher susceptability to injury as oppose to position players.

Strausburg will be the next Mark Prior IMO.

Strausburg will be the next Mark Prior IMO.

Good and valid comparison, but Strasburg has always had better stuff than Prior ever did. Even if he loses something in Tommy John, he'll likely still be a solid major league pitcher.

Harper has the stuff to be the best player in the game, but something deep within me feels like he's another Justin Upton; a hyped, high upside player who doesn't truly reach what he's capable of. That may just be me, though. The kid's astounding.

Those are some gaudy numbers. Most surprising is his high BB%. Some players take a while to develop plate discipline, and he's already sporting a double-digit walk rate at age 18. I try to not get too amped up about young players, especially in baseball, but I'm having a hard time believing he's not going to be for real.

Pretty good read, trying to compare him to past prospects. They might be getting a little too excited about a guy who has only played 45 professional games, but hey, it's hard to not get excited when an 18-year-old is putting up numbers like this.

I don't think that Harper will ever be a Top 5 player at whatever position he decides to play and, as an earlier poster said, I think that he will turn out something like Justin Upton. Hyped, Overated, and turns out to be a "bust" compared to most expectations but will still be a decent everyday player.
