Gomes batting second eh? Thinking him batting up there will get him some balls to hit in front of Votto. Don't see it working out but I will be happy to eat some crow if he does well.

Well both Renteria and Janish were basically out machines in the 2 hole. One more out machine won't hurt I guess in the eyes of Dusty.

I would agree with you, but the Reds are facing a righty. Gomes has no chance, probably better off taking an automatic out so he doesn't hit into a double play.

Dusty didn't get Bruce out of a slump. Dusty Baker talks more crap than anyone I know. Forty plus years in the game and it just came to him in a dream that he should bat Bruce in front of Votto to get him better pitches to swing at? Dusty isn't paying very close attention to the game if that is the case. Jay Bruce came out of his slump because Jay Bruce can hit a baseball. End of story.

I agree. I normally am not that critical of Dusty but that and batting Gomes in the 2 hole is the reason we lost today. I wish he would stack the damn lineup the way it should be stacked because batting Janish in the 2 hole sure as hell didn't help him. I think Bruce would have broke out of his slump anyway.
